As long as Vin Scully can still fog a mirror, we can't say, in good conscience, that Jon Miller is the finest baseball broadcaster in the known universe.
But as far as second place goes? There's no one else in sight.

Ernie Harwell.
Believe it or not, I haven’t been exposed to Vin Scully all that much, but I think since Jack Buck went, Jon Miller is all-time best.
Too bad he has to be teamed with Joe Morgan.
You said it, brother.
Yup, and you can add Joe Nuxhall...
Ernie said God had a new adventure for him when he retired and he repeated that sentiment when he announced the discovery of incurable cancer last summer.
Ernie has never “stood there like a house by the side of the road”.

You mean - Joe “I know it all” Morgan? Miller is great but we also LOVE our Kruk & Kuip! LOVIN’ MY SF GIANTS!!
Very nice. :)
I know the name Vin Scully but wouldn’t recognize him if I saw or heard him. I suspect that’s the way it is with all these announcers within their market.
Ernie Harwell called Tiger games for nearly my entire life and his voice is as well known to me as my closest family. Incidentally, he’s the only announcer ever traded for a player.
I just now read that in the Wikipedia article. :)
The Giants have the best broadcast team in baseball with Miller, Kuiper, Krukow and Dave Fleming. Now if they would only keep Greg Papa out of the booth when Miller is gone it would be perfect.
I loved listening to Jon Miller when he used to do the Orioles games. Congrats on this honor.
How could I have forgotten about Dave Fleming? I LOVE him. Papa could take a flying leap out of the broadcast booth and I wouldn’t miss him at all!
I love “Grab some pine, meat!”
Kruk(ow) is a hoot and knowledgeable to boot.
Knew him slightly in college and success hasn’t
changed him all that much to his credit.
Everything I need to know about Vin Scully I learned in an interview with Lon Simmons twenty years ago when Lon asked him in a pre-game show how he would announce it if there was a play at second base and the umpire called the runner out, but Vin saw that the second baseman had dropped the ball, and Vin said he would never tell his radio audience that the ball was dropped and that the umpire missed the call.
