Dr. Atkins was saying the same thing 40 years ago.

Not to worry...the Obama administration will control how much sugar and fiber we consume.

*ping* - apparently lots of people with either celiac disease or with gluten intolerance experience lots of difficulty with fructose.
Dr. Lustig's work is fascinating.

Big fan of Atkins.
But I also just read a book titled “Sugars that heal” That listed 8 essential sugars that the body needs. And while it said the human body was capable of converting any of the sugars to any of the 8 that it needs, it’s a chain process using enzymes that could be disrupted. It recommended adding Aloe and mushrooms, but not button mushrooms, to the diet, to ensure getting enough of the other sugars. It said the button mushrooms most commonly found in our grocery stores are devoid of nutrition.

Funny thing is in American foods, sugar is in everything and almost impossible to avoid.I will not do soft drinks and the only sugared items I have is fruits. I have a friend that recently went diabetic and his wife was telling me it is very difficult to find food that he can readily eat. They have to avoid breads due to the wheat being highly enriched and same with white rice.
Corn syrup is almost in everything ! Very nasty stuff. Last Summer, I was extremely careful on the simple carbs plus doing a lot of bike riding, I was able to shed about 25 to 30 pounds. It was easy to do since my family was out of town for t

A very interesting presentation indeed, and I suspect he is really onto something here (although the idea isn’t really new). I just wish he would keep his politics out of his presentation. All things bad in this country can be traced back to one man (Richard Nixon)? Come on. At first, I thought he might be joking, but he was serious.
