Here is local news video that happened to come upon a man whose car was stuck in the Washington D.C. snowstorm slamming the city last night and today. The man turned out to be former Democrat Senate Majority Leader tom Daschle. He was trying to push his car, and the reporter and crew jumped in to help him out.
Forecasters were predicting between 20-30 inches of snow overnight and today!

I have plenty of food. I conform to the tribal and cultural practices of Northern Virginia, so when they said it was going to be another blizzard, I went to the grocery store and stocked up. It was a madhouse. Did you see this, yesterday:

I’s sure Daschle’s former constituents in South Dakota are so proud of him now...
Here in Texas
52.8 °F - Clear - sunny - dry - calm, no wind
beautiful day! early spring I HOPE.
deeply soddened
.
Too early for anything but winter, but at least you have your residents from the Katrina storm to keep you guys busy.
Joe Bastardi, weather expert, said this blizzard is like the President’s Day Blizzard of 1979. In 1979 we even had a week of temps ranging from 17 - 21F here on the Texas Gulf Coast. I wonder if it was the same weather formation. I had friends come down from OKC to thaw out and we had a week of freezing cold and ice. But our roads were clear even then. I have never seen icy roads here. And it snowed here, I refer to about 12”, enough to build a snowman.
Jan 1973.
Dec 1989.
Dec 2004
that is all since I lived here.
Mostly we get a tiny snow flurry that you can barely see, and that is even rare.
WE don’t have ANY residents from Katrina here in Lake Jackson Texas. Zero, Zip, Nada. WE had a much worse Hurricane IKE, Clinton toured both places after Ike and Katrina and said Ike in Galveston was a MILLION times worse than Katrina. Downtown on the Strand we had 14 ft flood. Houston had millions or billions in damages from Ike. We just don’t make the news, since they couldn’t find a way to Blame Bush for Ike.
Last freeze date here usually is February 14
Valentine’s day. That is how we remember time to trim the rose bushes.
But we don’t have Katrina residents. We have IKE residents. I had $10K in damages from Ike. Nothing from Katrina or Rita.
Wow! Are you in D.C.? Glad the tree missed your house. Take care and stay safe.
Didn’t realize they weren’t everywhere in your state.
Sorry about the damage you had.
We here have a fear of the damage of a potential 7.0 and up.
LOL
No I missed that.
I AM glad to know that the madness extends to other areas and not just our poor neighborhood.
I WILL say that our shelves were well stocked and the run on the stores seems to have died down.
We ARE expecting more frozen precip again next week. But we are old hands at this now: skillfully swooping to gather up pretzels, bread, milk and beer before the first flake falls.
Poor Tom, most South Dakotans would be smart enough not to drive in such conditions without a 4 wheel drive pickup. However, Tom long ago gave up South Dakota values.
Northern VA just outside of DC.
Northern VA just outside of DC.
Lil Tommy gets stuck easily...
Knee deep to him is only about 4 inches of snow!
AMEN to that.
Anything to keep the cretins from doing anything.
MORE SNOW!
Like Little Tommy Daschle could push ANYTHING.
Then a little rain and a hard freeze...ICE!
Worthless!
