Vanity-Freeper help needed! MUST travel to Pittsburgh, PA-Freeper help needed!
Posted on 02/04/2010 5:24:34 PM PST by mozarky2
It's a long story, so I'll spare the details, but I have a "must take" trip to Pittsburgh the first week in March (I know; not the optimum time for a visit). My wife and I will be picking up my 2-1/2 year old great-grandson and squiring him around the area. Any and all advice is appreciated; museums, food, places to avoid, etc. Thanks again, Freepers!

I’m a day lay to this post so I don’t know if anyone’s answered your question, but the aquarium is part of the Pittsburgh Zoo, rather than a separate destination ... so it’s not that big. It’s rather nice, and it has penguins ... but it’s not the Tennessee Aquarium, the best I’ve seen yet. Not even close.

Vincent retired. But the joint is run by someone else and I heard they supposedly make it as good as he did. Haven’t been there for years since we moved south. And the in-laws just bought a house in Fla., so I don’t know if we’ll get back any time soon. But, man, I’m hungry just thinking about a Vinnie pie.

I live in central Fl, and go back to the Burgh twice a year. My brother resides in Stuart FL, he always requests that I bring him a V Pie. Half baked and a cooler, 24 hours later he is pre heating his oven to 450 degrees and loving it!

Try the National Avery on the North Side. I took my nephews last year and they really enjoyed it!

I think this trip is for you.
Just what is a 2 1/2 year old gonna get from it?
I suggest you get a hotel in Greentree (good location to move around from) and go from there.
Ask the people at the desk for suggestions. You have to understand that Pittsburgers are probably the nicest people in the US.
