I don’t have one, didn’t look at the video yet either, but if my gas pedal stuck, I’d shift into neutral. Was I close?

You have it right but the others are slow in a panic mode.

I thought the same but I would also pull the key out to stop the car. I’m glad I don’t have a Toyota.

That is what I told my wife just the other day, shift it into neutral and shut off the engine, if the engine is not running it can't keep accelerating (unless you going down hill).

She said she would probably just panic.

Something I thought of this morning, we are seeing a lot more Toyota troubles in the last few months. I am not a conspiracy kind of guy, but I wounder if it has anything to do with the UAW, and Government Motors. Just a thought.

Partly. That would work, but you'll redline your motor.

The best thing to do is shift into neutral, then immediately TURN OFF the ignition while being careful not to lock the steering column.

I never thought I'd ever have to use that bit of Drivers’ Ed, but it sure came in handy. I was driving a rental Audi in the Alps when the accelerator got stuck—talk about scary!

Danger of blowing your engine if you put it in neutral (with the jammed accelerator) and then don’t get the ignition off within a second.

I’d advise you to go straight for the ignition. But there, you have to be careful not to turn it too far off, or it may lock your steering.

The ignition key is your best bet - but don’t turn it enough to lock the steering wheel.
