Have a Toyota? Then you might want to figure out how you stop the darn thing in case your accelerator pedal gets stuck. It’s pretty simple, regardless of which Toyota model you actually own. I don’t have one, didn’t look at the video yet either, but if my gas pedal stuck, I’d shift into neutral. Was I close?

I thought the same but I would also pull the key out to stop the car. I’m glad I don’t have a Toyota.

Something I thought of this morning, we are seeing a lot more Toyota troubles in the last few months. I am not a conspiracy kind of guy, but I wounder if it has anything to do with the UAW, and Government Motors. Just a thought.

The FIRST THING Palin has to do as president is demand that the people responsible be thrown in jail and the auto company stock be returned to it’s rightful owners.

That would not be a good idea, since trying to steer at that point would engage the steering wheel lock.
Shift it into neutral, coast to get somewhere that you can pull over and then shut the engine off.
I drove several miles with a stuck throttle once, but it was a standard shift, so it was easier to deal with. Just pop it out of gear when you don’t want to go any faster, shut it off at stoplights and when you want to go again, pop it into 4th right after you turn the engine back on.
If you pull the key out, it will lock the steering wheel. I think most newer cars won’t allow you to do that unless you’re in park though.
Ummm... to stop a car, I usually put on the brakes... LOL ... (stuck pedal or not... :-) ...).
Why is this so hard for people to understand—JUST STOMP ON THE DAMN BRAKE PEDAL AND HOLD IT UNTIL YOU PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. With a late model Toyota Camry (268 hp)your braking distance will only be 16 feet longer than normal, even if you were been traveling at 70 mph AND you pinned the gas pedal to the floor at the same moment you stomped on the brake pedal.

Yawn! I drive a Ford F-150 FX. Not Gubmint-owned, or Nippon-made.
That doesn’t work, I know from experience. I put both feet and all my weight and all it did was smoke the tires.
I turned the engine off because I had no time to do the neutral thing there were cars in front of me getting ready to turn and the oncoming lane also had traffic.
It was hard but I was able to steer it to the shoulder while braking but at the time we also had a 4WD that had no automatic steering or brakes.

I'd just leave it running. Most cars built in the last 20 or so years are equipped with rev limiters, so you don't have to worry about blowing the engine if you leave it running with the throttle wide open. Also, with the engine running, you still have your power steering and brakes.
Someone else mentioned the steering locking if you turn off the ignition and remove the key. This will happen if you remove the key from the switch, but not if you turn off the ignition and leave the key in.

While you were thinking it, I was talking to a co-worker about it. It's not far fetched at all.
