Reasons:
1) Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.
2) Puerto Rico has a U.S. federal court system as well as their Puerto Rico Supreme Court system (lower court).
3) Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens (and have been since 1917). A large percentage are fluent in English, and thus they would be able to serve as jurors.
4) Puerto Rico has ample hotel and motel accommodations for lawyers, media, gawkers, and the like.
5) Puerto Rico has a few U.S. military installations that could be used as venue or housing during the trial. The mere fact that this is an island would be useful in isolating KSM.
6) KSM himself could be housed at the former Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Ceiba, or at the former U.S. Navy training island of Vieques, off the East Coast of Puerto Rico. In fact, the trial could be held at either one of these venues.
7) At 20-25% unemployment on the island, the circus trial would help within the population in getting jobs, albeit on a temporary basis.
8) Plenty of direct flights from the U.S. mainland to and from Puerto Rico on a daily basis.
Ping from ME!!
Now wait just one minute......is this a sensitive location?
Sensitive in what sense? Yes, many Puerto Ricans were lost in NYC on 9/11. What excatly do you mean?
KSM and his pals at Club Gitmo do not deserve any trial. Execute them all and dump the bodies far out at sea so no treasonous liberals in this country can use their graves as a shrine.
It sure beats West Point, one of the suggested alt locations.
Good idea, Dr Waldorf.
Thoughts?

As Puerto Rico has a policy of putting their criminals on flights to Florida I’m all in favor of just releasing AlQuaeda prisoners there ... If they blow anything up the Puerto Ricans can dispense justice at the end of a machete.
I agree with you, pal. But, I’m just giving an option to the administration of what they can or should do since it appears that no one in the WH or the Justice Dept. knows what the hell is going on.
just something i heard on am radio today. need a sesitive location, I have no Idea what it means.
That’s Waldorf, Maryland Freddy. Thanks for the kudos.
I grew up in Puerto Rico and my dad worked for the feds for years when we were little kids. It can be done on the island.
Puerto Rico also has an FBI office, as well as DEA, Homeland Security, Customs, TSA, ATF and other federal agencies.
I Think they should be let out in times square announce time and day a head of time just a couple of hours notice
Puerto Rico is a sensitive location.
If you travel out of the general San Juan Metro Area, there are plenty of isolated sensitive areas there, plus many U.S. installations.
LOL, OK, Silvie!
Hmm, Chicago might be a good alt site. South Chicago. Let him put his terrorist where his mouth came from.
Jeez, when did they close down rosy roads? Feeling old....
1. KSM by my account can not get a fair trial in the US or so his lawyers will try to argue.
2. If the arguement is accepted and KSM cannot get a fair trial in the US the only place that he can will be at the international Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague since his own country does not not want anything to do with him.
3. AG Holder and many staffers in the WH believe in the need for international law (look up Holder's European lectures and speeches he gave in the last few years).
4. The US at this time does not recognize the ICC.
5. I do believe that is possible that our leaders (SEE 3) will try then to convince the congress of the need for the viability of passing the treaty for the Court so we can use the rule of law to convict KSM which will be tainted if prosecuted in the US.
6. it will be tougher now with 41 republicans in the senate but with RINOs it is possible if “convinced” to go along with this and we are now under the International criminal system.
7. this is a vanity also but a logical one for our our internationalist NCA,DoJ,and DoS to pursue.
In about 2004. The Vieques facility (US NAVY) was also closed down.
Good reasoning!
Why not American Samoa?
Military tribunal at Club Gitmo, followed by lite snacks and execution.
Why put the people of Puerto Rico at risk? AQ could launch a terrorist attack there just as easily [and perhaps easier] than in the US.
