Per a NASA spokesman, Obama has killed the country's manned space program by cutting all funding for it. The Constellation program was to be the next manned space program to send people back to the Moon and build a Moon base, then to send astronauts to Mars. Obama wants the money for increased spending on his constituants. Killing the Constellation Program means the $9B already spent is down the drain and an estimated 4,600 jobs will have been ended.
Obama is monumentally stupid.
How is that going to affect employment in the Houston area?
I guess Obama’s the anti-JFK.
I think his Jobs Program really sucks.
He's trying to get it as low as possible.
Nothing like handing the high ground to China.
We really are a nation in decline.
Perhaps he’ll use the money saved on some jobs program.
Did PBS get the ax too?
I guess he wants to kill the space program and take that money to pay for his new high-speed trains. Go figure.
Where does he get the authority to do this?
Typical Marxist/Populist solution; Rob from Peter to pay Paul.
I’ll bet those Liberal weenies at NASA who voted for him are sure sorry now.
It’s for the children and a sacrifice. High speed trains that no one will ride are much more important and besides it makes us look just like European nations.
He’s not killing NASA’s sattelitte program so they can keep the global warming fraud going tho.
They were laughed at and ridiculed.
So, when Obama's first independent budgeting action is to cancel everything related to sending rockets to the Moon..................
Naw. The ‘saved’ money will just go into the pockets of his Chi-town shakedown buddies.
'But the changes have angered some members of Congress, particularly from Texas, the location of the Johnson Space Center, and Florida, the location of the Kennedy Space Center.'
And that's not even counting other NASA locations around the country and at contractors. We're turning our backs on territory we've explored and staked out. Kind of like Lewis and Clark coming back and finding out that gee, the country decided, we don't need to explore the West. Nothing there but mountains and trees and beavers and Indians. Much better to spend our money "here at home" on the East Coast.
What a bunch of stupid chumps.
His budget forgot to include the funds necessary to build the link across Indiana.
You think this guy and his third rate staffers are stupid, you ain't seen nothin' yet ~ he's bringing in his fourth rate bench!
He cannot do this unilaterally. Congress has to agree.
Just emailed my friend who is working on this project in Huntsville... I hope this isn’t true.
NO MANNED SPACE TRAVEL MEANS WE WILL HAVE TO RELY ON OTHER COUNTRIES FOR SATELLITE REPAIR???
