I would check “yes”.
If they refuse to hire you upon seeing you, threaten to sue them.

“Other” is always good.
Nobody has ever asked what I meant by it.
I think they were afraid to ask.

Do a search of your ancestry back 2-3 generations so you can claim the minimum 1/8th mix of whatever minority and claim it.
Or lie. Nobody knows the standards for judging your true heredity anyway and doubtful they will every question you on it for fear of a lawsuit.
Play the PC game and twist it to work for you.

I have an Hispanic surname, but I’m about as cracker as you can get.
I’m tempted, very tempted to claim to be as Hispanic as my husband.
BTW, my daughter does claim it, as is her right. As a 3.95 GPA student, she received the minority scholarship at her University last year after filling out the application. When she went onstage to receive her acknowledgment there were a couple of murmurs in the audience. She’s blonde and blue eyed. I guess she wasn’t exactly what they expected.

The government asks your race on everything. I was asked my race on an application for an agricultural exemption on property taxes, on a questionnaire about my small business (I don’t have one but they sent it to me three times) -— on everything.
It’s outrageous, racist, and unconstitutional.

I never understood that. In the first place, maybe an argument can be made that we need to make up for past discrimination against blacks. Hispanics OTOH are not even a real classification. They come from lots of different countries (surprisingly people from Spain are not usually included). Most have been in the country for less than 40 years so they arrived after the 1965 civil rights act. Why then do they get to be a protected class? </rhetorical?>

Many years ago I applied for a local gov job and checked "Native American" in the ethnicity section. Later during the interview, I was asked about my Native American status, as they seemed very interested in that. I finally told them I am Native American because I was born in America, making me a Native, and more specifically a Native Texan.
That seemed to end the interview early.

I get that, too, sometimes. I get telemarketers who speak to me in Spanish because my last name CAN be Spanish (it is NOT). I just hang up or tell them that I am NOT a Spanish-speaker.
I also don’t fill out any of the EOE crap anymore. I am white/Native American and it got me mad that either I have to A.) pick one over the other or B.)when I select Native it asks me for my tribal affliation number. I bet you no other racial group has to provide proof. C.)It is none of anyone’s business.

Sometimes I get a thrill out of being a prick about not being racially classified. I've made people tear up forms and refill them when I refuse to sign something with a race checked on it. It is fun when some liberal take an attitude about it and I calmly ask "So, are you judging me by the color of my skin instead of the content of my character?" They get angrier than when a Republican quotes JFK in a campaign commercial.

If you’re white, you’re now “non-Hispanic white.” You’re defined by what you’re not...Hispanic.
