With the economy the way it is I thought that making a torch for less than a dollar might come in handy?

I think you can use burlap instead of cotton, and grease instead of kerosene.

I hear a shilleighle can be made from black thorn, and when cured is useful as a walking stick, and for shooing dogs away or whatever.
