New Orleans Saints win NFC championship, advance to Super Bowl XLIV

There were 42 years worth of demons, 42 years of mostly struggles, 42 years of waiting until next year. Not anymore. This, the 43rd year of the New Orleans Saints, will be different.

In one swing of Garrett Hartley's right leg Sunday night, the Saints kicked away their demons, booted out their past struggles and ended the wait.

The Saints are going to Super Bowl XLIV. Hartley's 40-yard winning field goal in overtime of the Saints' thrilling 31-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game guaranteed them a spot.

"I just knew when it came off my foot it was going to split the bars, " said Hartley, the Saints' second-year kicker. "I just turned around and put my hands up in the air and hugged (holder Mark) Brunell. This team is headed to Miami now."

I don’t know who the best is but Favre is one of the best. Doesn’t his record mean anything?

Super Bowl not exactly a pairing of Conservative favorites.

1. Saints from the "Chocolate City" (Nagin)

2. Colts of owner Jim Irsay who blocked Rush Limbaugh's ownership bid.

I'll be rooting Colts b/c Peyton is the classiest athlete I have ever seen.

I love all these “Favre Sucks” people coming out of the woodwork. Nevermind the fact that if it wasn’t for Favre, the Vikes don’t even sniff the playoffs.

Sorry but the Saints didn’t win this one.
Do I hear sour grapes?

The kick was a very minor part of the game.

Greene departure hurt. No doubt.

Thomas is a good RB for the Saints, but I’m waiting for Bush to be consistent.

Miss the Deuce.

I would not be too boastful Saints fans. You did not win that game, the Vikings lost it. You are going to have to better then that in the Big Show.

Not sour grapes, just plain facts the Saints fans do not want to face.

Given how many mistakes the Vikings made that the Saints had to win it in OT instead of running away with it, indicates your team is not as good as you think it is.

I always love these kind of remarks. “Well so-and-so team really outplayed the other team even though they lost.”

Saints are in the Superbowl, the Vikings are not!

Brett “ when the game is on the line, I’ll toss an interception” Favre.

Last pass as a Packer: interception.

Last pass as a Jet: interception.

Last pass as a Viking: interception.

"did you see the fine tackling by the Saints offensive line?"

Little color blind?

The offensive guys doing the tackling and face masks were in the Purple and Gold, not the Black and Gold.

Don't worry, we will represent the NFC in the SB better than the Vikings.

We at least have a chance to win.

Hey, but Brett did beat the Cowboys last week.

2. Brett “ when the game is on the line, I’ll toss an interception” Favre. He ends every year doing the same thing. I predicted it. He’s cool and calm...except when it matters the most. Buh bye bart.

???????????????
I guess you forgot that Farve wears a SB ring, huh?
you must be blind not to see the Saints O line tackling and the catch that wasn’t a catch?
How about the air ball, Leber I never touched him Pass interference call?

yes the Vikes fumbled the ball but the refs fumbled the game

The officials decided the game - not the players.

The officiating was horrendous in OT.
