Good compilation. I would have added at least a couple of more from The Magnificent Seven. Steve McQueen made the cut, but Yul Brynner and Charles Bronson should have been there as well. Of course, the problem is, almost every male star from the thirties thru the eighties appeared in at least a few oaters, including Bogey and Sean Connery, actors not generally known for their westerns. I expect more than a few other posters will follow with suggested additions.

I don’t know if this would still be true, but I was chatting up a video store clerk five or six years ago, and she told me that westerns, particularly John Wayne movies, were still among the top renters at that time.

Back in the 1950s there used to be a TV station out of Muskogee,OK. KTVX. It is now Ktul out of Tulsa. On saturdays they had an entire afternoon of nothing but old westerns!
