Watching "ABC Family" earlier today with the kids. The show was about cheerleaders and there was this exchange between 2 teen boys:
Boy 1: "Did you get some ass? Boy 2: "Ass?" Boy 1: "You know, like in a porn movie. Did you get some ass?"

Leave it to Beaver is cool, and you just gotta love Eddie Haskell for pure amusement, also, Ward and June are great parents. Ah the good old days when a family show was about shooting for an ideal instead of wallowing in so called “reality.”

I watched a week ago, the debut of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” with my daughter. The first five (5) scenes were about sex. In the scene with one of the moms (former melrose place star), she was with her boyfriend in bed. The guy’s elderly mother lets herself in his apartment because he didn’t answer the phone. After the mother leaves, they comment that she’s not like “Republicans”. (I suppose they meant prudish, values) and then Josie (melrose place) a mother in the show, talks about “Obama”.
Can they get anymore transparent?
My daughter and discussed how disgusting this show was.
“A New Kind of Family”? Definitely. Not my kind of “family”.

You were saying ...
Im with you. Shut off the teevee service last year. A very good decision. More people should try it.
That's kinda silly... I just don't watch what I don't want to watch... :-)

I truly believe that the majority of writers on regular TV or either 18 years old or gay. Or both.

This is no longer the 50s-70s. Disney shows are long gone. This is hedonism plain and simple, it is designed to destroy the family.

A couple of years ago the FCC decided that the f-word was suitable for television as long as it was used as an exclamation and wasn’t associated with sex.

You are very late. One of the first shows they had after being bought by ABC was a show about shacking up.

"I had Comcast drop TV from my service a few months back. They'll raise the rate on it a bit on your broadband internet access, though."
I did the same thing with our cable company after they raised the price of their tv service and I have never looked back. Still have broadband and phone through them. We get Netflix (14 bucks a month for 2 dvds out at one time, plus they have some content you can watch online). As you said, we also have access to other content online as well as a few channels we get over the air. We get information and entertainment on our terms, not whenever and whatever some cable or media company wants to shove down our throats.

I had the basic going for a little over a year for my Sons. What they watched was strictly monitored. They rarely watched it recently. So, it’s gone.
