One of our very best interpreters of Gershwin’s symphonic piano works.

One of the few pianists who recorded Medtner before his music was “rediscovered”.

On behalf of my good friend and Earl’s good friend, David Godfrey I can only say he gave us beautiful music, may he rest in peace.

I saw Wild in an all-Gershwin concert with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Arthur Fiedler in 1962.
It was the first concert I ever atended.

I have an old LP (packed away) of Wild/Fielder containing Rhapsody in Blue, Concerto in F, and "I Got Rhythm" variations.
These recordings are from the era you mentioned.
I just located a CD on Amazon with these performances and also An American in Paris.
Ordering it now.

If my memory serves me correctly, the program had the Rhapsody, the Concerto and an American in Paris as the program.

I have a few LPs (that would be vinyl records for the younger generation) of his recordings. Very nice. Thank you and RIP, Mr. Wild.

Wild's 1960 performance of
An American In Paris and
Rhapsody In Blue with the Boston Pops under Fiedler, RCA LSC-2367, is a triple-header: a great recording of a great performance of great music. Anyone who loves Wild, Fiedler, Gershwin, or simply appreciates a virtuoso at his piano, should seek out the LP (the CD is fairly listenable, but misses so much of the musical communication evident on the LP played back on a decent stereo). I'll be playing it later this evening, my own tribute of remembrance to the talent of Earl Wild.
RIP.
