Interesting. Gold from the Solomon Islands was one of the plot devices in a very entertaining trilogy called the “Baroque Cycle”. One of my favorite reads. I had thought the Spanish (and alchemists, including Sir Isaac Newton) theory that the islands were the source of King Solomon’s gold and that the gold held mystical properties was the author’s invention.

It is fascinating how they use geo-soundings now to determine where disturbance occurred in the past. I saw a series on guerilla archeaology on PBS where they sounded the outlines and then came in with a backhoe to excavate down to the right level. This accelerated the process and success of getting down to where they can do the fine work to reveal artifacts.
I figured this was about Chilili.
