The dem campaign tried to portray Brown as a right wing Neanderthal. As far as I can tell from a distance, he in reality is a centrist mildly leaning to the left.
For that particular state in 2010 this may be their idea of a conservative, but it's difficult to imagine anybody like an actual across the board conservative winning this election. Even against Coakley.
The only big political name from outside the state he brought in to campaign was bogeyman Rudy Giuliani. He seems tight with Mitt Romney and Romney policies. In his victory speech he prominently and unreservedly praised Ted Kennedy. He's spoken in favor of alternative green energy technologies and has said the battle over gay marriage in the state is settled. And at some point you can depend the Obama administration will find issues his state would wish and demand he support. That's a lot of failed litmus tests for both the purists and the paulists.
Will people accept the reality that a centrist is better then a Kennedy Machine puppet? Or can we look forward yet again to Truth Files, barrages of RINO and traitor accusations, and snide and petty posts about his nude modeling photos.
Once the health bill is settled it will be interesting to see how long before the sugar buzz ends and the daggers come out.
The use of the term “demonrat” automatically disquallifies you from any serious, adult conversation.
We need, and rightfully deserve to savor this victory in Mass.
Who the heck do you think you are to try to “disqualify” me from any “serious, adult conversation”. I’m not the one who posted the thread. You can savor all you want but, I’m not going to go lock step with anybody. If you want to support him know matter what he does go ahead. I’m not.
I don’t need to savor anything. I’m happy he won because he tics the Rats off but, I learned a long time ago not to put anybody to high on a pedestal.
Oh hells bells, crucify the man if he isn’t 100% of what we want.
I would remind you that a good many here never supported him in the first place, including me. Therefore, those (including me) would not be “turning”, but speaking exactly as before.
Furthermore, another good portion supported him “even though” he’s a RINO, being better than the alternative - Not supporting him “as a RINO”. These too, have every right to speak as they already have.
And as I said before, I can predict y’all will rue the day...
I support anyone who is defeating communism, fascism, and socialism. I don’t know Brown from a hill of beans, but I’m glad he kicked her ass. Let him state his case and principles and I’ll decide afterwards. But if he turns RINO, he’s out as quick as he went in!
How long will it be? Well, last night, probably less than an hour after his acceptance speech, someone was bemoaning their “buyer’s remorse”. How’s that for quick?
On the flip side, I’ve seen calls of Brown 2012. People... let’s just all keep our heads and enjoy watching Deathcare in it’s death throes. We don’t have to pillory the man before he’s even taken his seat.
Right let’s enjoy the victory. It felt good to win and we loved his victory speech.
He’s the best we could hope for from the People’s Democratic Republic of Massachusettes (sic). Even if he’s as bad as Lindsey Graham, he’s still better than Coakley.
Of course, that won’t save his hide if starts cutting deals with the Obama administration, though.
Bravo. Agree strongly.
Flame on.
If he is telling the truth about opposing crap and trade, he is better than Graham. Brown says he opposes "amnesty" but they all say that.
Freepers turned on Brown immediately ... like weeks ago. The Purity Police are killing this place!
The key to the “inclusive” part is to mean you will persuade the other side over, not that you will “give Marxism a chance.” I’m all for an incremental approach, but simply electing people with an R is not advancement. If the GOP actually does retake in November, they had better understand (this time) that we expect them to REPEAL and REFORM things in a conservative way. None of this “power sharing” crap that got us where we are today.
Play the long game.
Is he a RINO? Is he Pro-Abort, okay with gay marriage, Romney Care, etc. etc. How many times did he use the word ‘Republican’ in his victory speech last night?
“we can do better” is a term he used when talking about the health care bill. Sounds like he’s ready to work with the democrats and with some changes he’ll be able to vote yea.. jmo.
When I read the title of the post I just knew it would really be about Romney.
Romney, McCain, Huckabee, the Walter Mondales of the Republican Party.
Here's my bottom line: Brown is allowed to be less than the ideal conservative, as long as he votes with the Republican team on the important issues, and stays away from Snowe and the rest of the "mavericks".
Clouding the issue with common sense and logic.......sheesh!
