Oceans of liquid diamond, filled with solid diamond icebergs, could be floating on Neptune and Uranus, according to a recent article in the journal Nature Physics.

The research, based on first detailed measurements of the melting point of diamond, found diamond behaves like water during freezing and melting, with solid forms floating atop liquid forms. The surprising revelation gives scientists a new understanding about diamonds and some of the most distant planets in our solar system.

Well, the diamond guild better hope we never learn how to mine Uranus(Ok, make with the jokes). Melted diamonds, sounds like it may get a tad hot there.

By the way, the lizard man was supposed to be Capt. Kirk’s equal in the lizard world. But I preferred the rock monster.

Great episode(rock monster was on a different episode), but I prefer the rock monster on Galaxy Quest(a hilarious movie, BTW), it played he** with the bad guys!

Ah yes, the Uranus side of the family! Clumsy bunch. Don’t drop the soap while they’re walkin’ about.

Do you mean the Horta?

Ah, yeah, I knew it was the Horta, I just didn’t want anyone to know that I knew it was the Horta.

Michelle Obama digs up a Horta (a not-so-distant relative) and displays it for the press.

In this case, maybe your sheet don’t sink?

Last I heard carbon did not have a liquid phase, wouldn’t it just go right into gas/vapor?

I don't know about Uranus, but the only gas/vapor mine emits is methane.

If the International Astronomical Union can convene to demote Pluto from planetary status, what are the chances they can convene to rename Uranus?

And are the juvenile (but occasionally funny) Uranus jokes common in other languages or just English?

Inquiring minds and all that...

Diamonds would become so cheap that the funding would fail. :’) The ship that brought my surname ancestors over from England sank either on the return voyage, or the following return voyage, and I’m pretty sure that ate into their profits a bit. And btw, I’d like to thank my ancestors for the excellent scheduling choice.
