$10,000 Reward in Case of Cat Found Glued to Highway
ksfy ^ | Jan 12, 2010

This is Timothy the Cat and his story has captivated viewers for weeks on our web channel. Sadly Timothy the Cat died from his injuries after he was found glued to a Minnesota highway. Now a reward for information on the crime has climbed to almost $10,000.

Timothy was found glued to a highway in late December. He was taken in by volunteers with Second Chance Rescue, but sadly he died a few days later. This past Saturday, an anonomous man from Yankton gave $1,000 to be used for reward money. Since then, volunteers say the donations have been rolling in both from South Dakota and Minnesota.

"Putting a 7 month-old kitten glued to a highway when cars are speeding by—that cat had to be terrifed—that bothers me. Timothy was a very friendly cat and very easy to get attached to, so it was sad to watch him go downhill so quickly and hopefully we can find who did it and hold them accountable for it," said Rosey Quinn of Second Chance.

If you have information about this crime contact Second Chance Rescue in Sioux Falls.

>>My concern is with the duty of civil governance to protect human beings from the superficially humanoid creatures who are capable of such acts.<<

There is a chasm that separates one who does these acts to kittens and one who does them to humans. That is, unless we can prove that the person who did this sees no difference between the two. Like I said earlier, we should have serious concern for a Peta member that would do this.

It is in your flawed interpretation of what I said. Seriously flawed.

You may interpret it that way. These all turn out to be “chick” issue threads though. Every single one of them. Sure, there are men on both sides, but...

There are 3 things you need to read, memorize and never forget. Any child that does these 3 things is in serious trouble...is already sociopathic/borderline/psychopathic...

1. Animal cruelty
2. Fire starting
3. Bedwetting

P.S. I’m a chick...I also was raised on a farm...I also know the difference between taking the life of an animal for food or prevention of suffering. You do not now nor ever torture an animal for fun or game. There are some children in this country that CANNOT be save...no matter how much we want them to be....it is a FACT.

My brother burned down a field in Fort Worth when he was in first grade. I burned down a fence when I was in third grade. Neither was on purpose. Does that count?

Also, I agree that torturing an animal is a problem. However, it is the SECOND time it is done that would cause me concern. I use my robin example as reason. Sometimes people do not understand that what they are doing is cruel.

Thinking back though, I did not shoot the robin to be cruel. I shot it to see if I could “stop” something that had the power to evade. I was not trying to cause pain. Also, when I pulled the legs off a daddy longlegs when I was in first grade, I was not trying to cause it pain. I wanted to see how it would walk with seven, six, five four,... legs.

I think some of this cruelty to animals is not intended to be cruel, but rather to see “what would happen”. Only after doing it and seeing the consequences do they realize that maybe what they did was cruel - and they never do it again.

I see all animals, even humans, as mere biological machines. But humans have a human “soul” occupying them. They are also made in the image of God. Cats, dogs, Apes, trees, are not. They have a different value and purpose. How one HABITUALLY treats them does exposes that persons sensibilities, though.

Well you've certainly put me in my place with that dumb cartoon.

I've been informed that you're a douchebag troll that haunts animal abuse threads, extolling the virtues of bizarre animal torture. I'll just ignore you.

:)

Actually, I am a guy that enjoys a discussion with those I disagree with. It is hard to find here on freerepublic, but the “some #%$^%@$#” tortured a kitten” threads are a favorite, and easy pickins.

I hate name calling, btw. If it applies, that is one thing, but words like “douchebag” should stay in places like DU.

“Troll” is arguably accurate, but even then, simply disagreeing does not a troll make. I make some good points and it seems many have a difficult time arguing with them, or intentionally confusing their meaning.

As close to life in prison for the perp as the prosecutor can get. Whoever did this is not human and should be caged to protect society.

No I meant the perps together.

OK. But I still like my idea better.

Oh I think there are all kinds of things to be done. Say volunteer in a shelter taking care of abused cats.

There was person in my hometown convicted of animal abuse, I don't remember the particulars of the case, but the judge sentenced him to x number of hours of community service at the city animal shelter to teach him about the plight of poor animals. Well, before long, the perp wrote a letter to the newspaper, advising all the world that his duties at the shelter was to assist in euthanizing animals and pitch the bodies into the dumpster. You can imagine the red faces on shelter officials and the judge!

Was it true?
The shelter I worked at, they put people in the hospital caring for abused animals.
And no animals were ever pitched into a dumpster.
That is just weird.
But I’ll stick with what I’d really do and thats to take them behind the wood shed and put the fear of God in them.....no matter how old they are.

Thats the story that was in the paper about 10 years ago, or so. But I couldn’t verify the truth of it. Our paper is usually fairly dependable on local issues.

Animal cruelty is and should be a punishable crime.

Human civilization requires it.

Even ancient civilizations required humans to refrain from cruelty to animals.

They may be property but they are property that feel pain and fear. They are not chairs or desks that can feel no pain and have no consciousness.

And it is also true that people who commit torture to animals very often are abusive and cruel to humans.
