I have been searching for an alternative to the AARP. There is one organization that has advertised during Rush's show, but I can't remember it. (Can you tell I need a seniors' group?)
I searched online and found 2 prospects. One is the American Seniors Association (www.americanseniors.org) and the other is The Association of Mature Citizens (www.amac.us).
Does anyone know anything about either of these groups or if there are others? Both were started recently, and I found at least one blog post that said the ASA didn't have any real benefits and just tried to sell stuff. (Sounds a lot like the AARP.)
Advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
Here’s the 1 advertised on Rush’s show, I bookmarked it because they’re supposed to offer insurance soon and I want my Mother to give up AARP to make a statement and go with this group:
Thank you very much!
Except now I have 3 to consider. ;-)
I cancelled my AARP membership and with with ASA, American Seniors Association. They are a CONSERVATIVE representation of seniors - not a liberal org like AARP. They have great insurance products just like AARP. They’ve been on FOX several times and that’s how I found them. I think something like 50,000 - may be more by now -
AARP people switched to them. They are located in Alpharetta, GA (metro Atlanta).
I went to the American Seniors Association web-site and did not see a listing for car insurance. There is roadside assistance. Does anyone know of an alternative to AARP car insurance and insurance for your house that is more affordable. This is one of my missions this week - my husband has been after me to get rid of AARP.
ping for later study
Gosh, I’m showing my ignorance. I didn’t even know AARP offered car or house insurance. Sorry, don’t know!
I’m with you. I don’t know what the benefit of joining these organizations is if they don’t offer something other than a political perspective. There are plenty of conservative political organizations.
