Since my children love AI, staying in and watching it with popcorn or pizza is my attempt to have “family time”. Soon after AI, the kids are in bed and I immediately go out and grab a tool or a saw to redeem my masculinity.

Agreed. And without a Simon to dose out some reality to the contestants, AI is toast. To me it seems like they’re deliberately trying to sink this show to make way for “X-Factor”.
I completely agree. Simon is the star-maker.
We’ll see how it goes. People just assume that without Simon AI will die. Maybe. Or maybe not. AI is a package, where the judges’ comments are one of many ingredients, albeit important ones.

The value of advertising is you can decipher the product before buying. I have only seen the trailers for the show - never the show. As another poster stated, AI is the new Gong Show. The Gong Show was funny and original, the AI thingy is not my cup of tea. I can also tell you alot about Survivor, but only because my wife watches it and feels compelled to tell me what happened after watching. I am quite content to watch replay NFL games, History, and Nat Geo channels while all this is going on. I do enjoy watching reruns of “Malcolm in the Middle” with my son. That was an extremely well written and acted show. My son, age 9, loves it.
One way to see it is... Simon and Paula just wanted to ditch Randy... lol
