Here is a video report on the news from a study of 30 Soda Fountains that showed 70% of them had "bacterial growth" present, with 48% of the bacteria being "fecal bacteria."
The doctor interviewed said the bacteria could be present because an employee touched the soda fountain after "going to the bathroom" and no washing their hands, but that it also could be coming fro bacterial growth in the water line.
The doctor advocated additional "regulations" to clean out the machines more frequently. . . . (VIDEO)

I am surprised its that low. 100% if bathroom toothbrushes are.
I’ll take my lunch combo with the bottled beverage, thank you.
Hey, what is that $hit doing in there?
*ping*
Brings a whole new meaning to Big Gulp.
I’ve watched enough people who do their “business” and bypass the wash basin to know it’s a smart to use paper towels when touching sink handles or water fountain levers.
What about the door handle to get OUT of the bathroom? All that washing, then re=contaminated upon leaving the WC.
Here’s my peeve: the lids for to-go coffees at convenience stores, etc. The top lid always sticks to the one just beneath it, so the customer has to pry them apart, leaving one behind. That’s the one the next customer gets. They need to have a lid-dispenser that shoots ‘em out one at a time.
Yep, and just think of how many MUD pies that children have eaten throughout the generations of mankind.
I use a paper towel to turn the handle to get out of the washroom too. I only throw it away after I leave the washroom. I even use it on the handles on the water fountain right outside the restroom. I’ve seen too many idiots who don’t bother to wash their hands. Obviously I can’t use a paper towel all the time. But when I leave the restroom, I get a little paranoid about Mister E-coli.
Why don’t they make public restroom doors that you PUSH to exit? Almost all of them in fast food places, etc. are PUSH to enter, PULL to exit. PUSH to exit would allow you to exit without touching the door handle with your hands. (Doesn’t apply to doors that “latch, of course.)
....so the door doesn’t get thrown open against someone who is walking past the restroom, such as in a hallway.
