It’s kind of weird how the trends change in college ball. Bama is almost like the old Woody Hayes Buckeyes. With Miami a few years ago it was all speed and flash.
‘Bama will be title contenders for a while, if you thought the Gators(my fav team) where good the last few years; ‘Bama could/will win a couple in a row with their talent level and recruits.
It was a good game - Texas almost came back and with a freshman QB - amazing. My husband and I were wondering if he saw any play time this season at all, or if his first college game was the National Championship game! lol Can you imagine?
Texas played well, too. Far better than I expected after the loss of McCoy. Is he a class act, or what.
Texas has a lot of heart, and your young QB is going to be dangerous as all get out next year.
But for now, I’m just happy we finally beat Texas, a new frontier for Bama
You’ve been outstanding. Your knowledge of the conferences and teams are what make your effort so entertaining. You have good insight and a passion that shows. Thanks.
UT played a great game under the circumstances. I look forward t o seeing more of Garret Gilbert as QB.
It is so odd to see the replay of McCoy’s injury - nothing stands out as a game ending injury. He even said he’s taken that same hit many times with no problem - He said his arm is numb, so what do you think happened?
I just hope when we get Bama next year, we have that same chip on our shoulders that they had against us this year.
We’re not going anywhere either, we are right there near the top recruiting despite Meyer’s situation, and we just got a new DC from the Dolphins, George Edwards, who looks pretty good.
Thanks for keeping it going. I’ll see you on twitter.
I think I heard one of the announcers say that he’d had a little bit of playing time earlier in the season. But what a way to make a name for himself tonight, eh?! Once he got passed the deer-in-headlights moments, he got it together and did well. I’d say he will have a serious leg up on the QB competition at TX next year. :)
Thank you ever so much for this great thread tonight.
Hook’em!
I was stunned they didn’t have anyone else in line for the QB spot - a freshman - no soph or junior waiting? And yes, what a way to start his career.
Yeah, GG got some major seasoning tonight. Who would’ve guessed that UT could pull within three points using the frosh backup QB that no one had really ever heard of? And on such an incredible stage! No pressure, kid.
I look forward to watching him in the future, too.
I know! That’s exactly what I was thinking. Was this kid really THE back up QB? HE was seriously Plan B??????
He came through for them remarkably well, all things considered, but I’m so surprised at the lack of depth for the most important position on the team. Weird.
Helluva running game...I’m happy.
Nothing against Texas...have kin there...lived there....hunted there....cousin was cheerleader there 3 years ago...uncle/aunt in Pritchett but there was only ever one Bear Bryant.
For kids here there is no way to explain it. Bama is too many of we southerners what that obscure school in South Bend is to yankees.
At times Musberger sounded like it was 1966 again ..he obviously favored Texas.
Bama number one and Ole Miss back in the ranking in a few hours.
I’m happy.
Thanks for your threads!
Just because they aren’t playing games, doesn’t mean that there won’t be meat for college football threads. Coaching changes, recruiting, and the possible senate run by Mr. James, for a start.
Roll Tide!!
Lord please don’t let that happen - I’d write in Mike Leach before I’d vote for cry baby james
