Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...
The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.
You wait until Gilbert translates his intent.... we’ll still probably lose, but there will be some 70-yarders we can talk about.
Poor gilbert..cant imagine the pressure
This game reminds me of the Florida State/Virginia Tech championship game. All VT had really was a quarterback, and Florida State wacked him out of bounds and injured him, and that was all she wrote for VT.
I thought going in even with McCoy, that Texas would have a rough go of it because of their mediocre running game.
My poor niece graduated from Auburn and got her master’s at A & M. She doesn’t know who to pull for. She is living in College Station.
Just the one that talks all the time like he could coach a team.
The one that kept saying that the freshman QB had to take some chances, and then when he did and threw two interceptions, said the coach was stupid for taking chances with a freshman QB.
Lol, yes, that is one of the many reasons we loathe Musburger around here and were annoyed to find out he was calling the game tonight.
Hey...just making an observation. As far as Texas using Jap stuff and not American...what else do you expect from a bunch of lefties? After all...Texas is the most liberal university in Texas.
But...keeping with the analogy...Texas looks like they eat like the Japanese...and the Alabama band look like they consume good old American food...
Another stupid lawyer show ABS is trying to foist on us. Skipping that.
Here’s something my brother sent me today. Below are season stats for 4 defensive lines. Compare them and then read below.

Line #2
112 Tkl, 33 TFL, 14 Sk, 48 QBH, 5 PBU, 0 Int, 1 FF, 0 Blk

Who produced these stats?
Line #1 is Alabama
Line #2 is Florida
Line #3 is Texas
Line #4 is Ndamukong Suh by himself!
It’s too bad this game hinged on McCoy’s injury. You could feel the air let out of the Rose Bowl when Colt went into the locker room.
And I don’t know what Mack Brown was thinking in not taking a knee to end the half, and any chance they had to compete in this game went out the door, right then and there......
I still don’t see how that tackle hurt McCoy’s shoulder.
TD Longhorns!
TD Texas!!!! Good to feel good for the kid.
TD Texas! A possible sign of life in the Longhorns perhaps?
Alabama 24
Texas 13
1:31 in the 3rd
24-13....could be interesting.
OMG Texas got the onside! They’re not giving up! God bless Texas!
Auburn led Alabama until about the last two minutes. We kept Ingram to about 35 yards. I thought Texas had a good chance to beat them before the Texas quarterback went out.
As they say, “On any given day...”
Touchdown TX! Now if they hadn’t had that stupid play at the end of the quarter we would have a game.
Cool onside kick using the ‘Bama player as a bumper in a pin ball machine.
Texas football, off the deflection of the Bama up-man. Hmmmm, maybe it’s not quite over yet?
See? Stick around, Gilbert is warming up.
