Uh ... as much as I love the female form, threads like this one are the type that just keep bringing the level of seriousness down here on Free Republic. Back to the Chet’s pitbull stories, the crap about the NFL (which loves Obama and hates Rush), meaningless college ball games, Rick Warren and Osteen huckster devotionals, grannies pie cobbler, the guy with the Russian jet stories, the stupid satires that waste many people’s time, the gun threads (I do like those), crap about stupid Avatar, can’t find any ammo threads, the woman defending pitbulls, etc etc.
Call me a “lad” or even lager lout. Bring more of this Baltic region cheer. These gals are trying to spread capitalism by selling their calendar while Obama is jamming communism down our throat.

I get enough doom and gloom.
I’m a female and I’m not offended. People who are going to get offended have the option of not clicking on the link; the headline on the thread was pretty up-front about what was going to be here.
Frankly, I click on these things because seeing other women who are lovely and in great shape inspires me to exercise, keep my hair and skin looking good, discipline myself about holiday food, and exercise some more.
What cracks me up is reading all the threads around here (not this thread, mind you) about the “sexualization of our culture” and how we’re heading for hell in a handbasket. How women are sluts, whores, etc., thanks to feminism and tv/movies. Then we get post after post with scantily-clad women - even on threads that have absolutely nothing to do with anything remotely sexual. So it’s wrong to be a slut, but it’s okay to pose half-nude (but only if you’re hot, of course)? Got it. Rant off.
Anyway, you’re correct.
Bringing the level of seriousness down? Heck, I've been here since December of 1999 and, if anything, the level of seriousness on FreeRepublic has gone way UP over the years. There were dozens of threads each with responses that numbered in the hundreds dealing with nothing more serious than cheese, spam, and sister-biting Møøsës, spinning out with quotes, pictures, and nonsense from "History of the World, Part 1", "Men in Tights", any appropriate (or inapppropriate) Monty Python movies or skits from the shows, "Fawlty Towers", "Red Dwarf", and anything and everything under the sun.
Seriousness? There's plenty of that here ... what's missing is the spirit of fun and slapstick that used to pervade here.
