On top of regular donations how much would you kick in to be able to filter things out when you browse FR?
There are certain subjects I'd rather not bother with and there are certain posters I'd rather not bother with.
I'd kick in a few bucks for the extra functionality.
How much would you kick in for this ability?

I think the first thing to be filtered out should be VANITY POSTS.
Using your logic you must read every single post from every single user and never skip any, right?

When you get into a ‘personal’ discussion, do you ‘filter’ who is allowed to speak?
Are you aware that you can ‘customize’ your FR interface so that you only see the CATEGORY of threads you wish to see?
I would like to be able to search the body of posts, not just titles.
Not a dime from me. I get the total RSS feed in my reader and browse on-site with all categories and comments. If it were possible to filter I would not, at least not more than is available now.
Why? Because you don’t know what you don’t know.
You end up filtering out stuff that may be important to you but shows up under a thread that didn’t initially interest you.
And you miss all the good pictures. ;0)

But you can’t do some basic functions that have been available for years.
Why shouldn’t FR make a few bucks more by adding this feature if they decided to?
Very true but there are knowns that I’d rather not know again, you know?
FR works fine just the way it is.

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.
1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.
Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.
Nevermind. I just received a message that there is 3rd party software available that one can use.
I guess I’ll keep my $.

You mean like using your own brain and deciding what you DO and DO NOT want to read about by either clicking on a thread , or not?
Perhaps if you were more specific about exactly HOW this would be implemented, it would make more sense.
