The smell of a man's sweat differs according to what mood he is in and women can pick up on changes that indicate attraction, according to new research.
The study, led by Dr Denise Chen, assistant professor of psychology at Rice University, in Texas, America, involved introducing two types of male sweat to 19 women in their 20s - one type was labelled 'normal', the other 'sexual'.
The sweat was gathered from a selection of men who had polyester pads attached to their armpits.
The 'normal' sweat was gathered during a 20-minute session in which the men were asked to watch educational videos.
They were then asked to watch 20 minutes of an erotic video, during which the 'sexual' sweat was gathered.
The female participants were exposed to these different scents while researchers monitored their brain activity.
The women did not realise it but their brains not only recognised the scents but responded to them.
Dr Chen said the 'sexual' sweat lit up different regions of the participants' brains.
She added her results suggested the female brain is capable of recognising the smell of a man who is attracted to her.

Another :)
Ha! I’ve always warned my oldest son to “stay clear from girls that travel in packs”.
This is going to kill men’s deodorant.
For instance, when I went to a bar about 2 years ago, I couldn't go alone. So I got a few friends to come with me. I felt more secure having my friends there with me.
I guess it's part of our female nature. We are weaker than you guys, and I have always said that.
That doesn't mean we are dumber, it's just that physically we are not as strong as men. And I'm glad that's the case. I can't image females being stronger than males. Unless we are talking about Rossie O'Donnell, lol, but I do prefer a strong male (not a sweaty one) over anything else.
There is some logic to that after watching the women in my dear exes card group discuss each other.
Didn’t gladiators scrape their sweat off and collect it to be sold to rich women?
Seriously? I mean, it depends on the guy and the situation, etc., but generally I think a guy who shows some exertion can be pretty darn sexy.
Perhaps you should read a bit about pheromone studies:
“All male pheromones are not equally attractive, and some of the myths stem from an understandable confusion over their names. The male pheromone androstenone is not the same as androstenol. Androstenol is the scent produced by fresh male sweat, and is attractive to females. Androstenone is produced by male sweat after exposure to oxygen i.e. when less fresh and is perceived as highly unpleasant by females (except during ovulation, when their responses change from negative to neutral).”
I dated a guy for several years who happened to sweat a lot. But he never, ever “smelled” in the sense of having BO. He was very self-conscious about it and showered frequently throughout a day.
When he walked into the room, I was the one who started to sweat ...he was an expert in tantric intimacies. ‘Nuff said.
Oh yes, lets talk about some exertion. I’m all ears, and I’m tired of the blue pill commercials and all. LOL!
LOL Another genre I have managed to avoid. But thanks Nachum ...I still love ya! ;)
Kerjillions.
Wow, that sounds exciting. Like I said, maybe in the future I'd find myself in the same situation, but for now I don't think much of it.
Anyway, great post, thanks.
Be back later.
That’s the image I was looking for! Thanks Slinky! Perfect!
And all this time I thought it looked like olive oil ... water, eh?
If you have followed the GGG threads you might have noticed that I take a rather basic view of human relationships.
Should be another panel with a liquor store with a sign saying: Good, Better, but this is the Best!
“This is going to kill mens deodorant.”
On the contrary, it could give rise to new odorants for men that have nothing to do with the Victorian need to disquise the last 29 days of the monthly bathing cycle.
There is no hope for women - would the right pheromones do anything for Helen Thomas?
