It is nice and cozy warm up near the ceiling, no matter how many times I chased her off she went back as soon as I wasn't watching. I took everything off the the shelf and put her pad up there!

Very wise. With my cat it’s the closet shelf in the bedroom. It’s now been cleared off and she has her own bed there.

I know you know this, but just to make sure.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff. You are staff. Questions?

the Queen now has her Throne!! Good for you!
My doggie , Lola, is 14 and has arthritis. After many attempts at various”stairs” and “steps” so she could get on my already low platform bed....The mattress is now on the floor for her! She is fine now with that...I am learning how Japanese get out of bed(ha) and realize sleeping on the floor was fun at 22 when I was a hippie, but at this point in my life, it doesn’t fit my conservative image....Oh well, Lola rules!

We also had a cat that especially loved to be up high.
Wherever she was, she wanted to be at the highest point.
She was a skinny little gal and she loved to sit on the top of the doors (what are they, about two inches wide?) inside our house.
