OK, so today I drive by the Monoliths and notice the dates on the lower corners of each side. I start googling them and finally go to the website and find the following...
...some elements of the artwork remain elusive including a cryptic series of dates ranging from September 23, 1899 to January 15, 2096. According to Morgan, there is no right or wrong answer for what the dates mean, everyone will come up with a different solution.
I want to spur a variety of thoughtful interpretations, rather than a quick and intuitive reaction, Morgan says of his work, which he leaves open to interpretation. I want my work to require slow and deliberate analysis, revealing its layers and mysteries over time. Although I'm comfortable with my artwork being seen as a decorative object, I hope it will entice viewers to take a closer look and will reward those who do.
What will you discover in this unique work of art? Theres no right or wrong answer and theres only one way to find out. Visit The Village at Fairview and The Village at Allen soon to discover our truly unique collection.
OK, FReepers, get your hats on and start working on it.
A couple of notes:
1. I doubt that the artist pick "random" dates.
2. The text above indicates that there "could" be an answer to the riddle.
3. Why do this in a public place?
4. Does the city(s) know if there is an answer?
5. If so, is it nefarious or humorous?
6. Is there a larger message within the riddle?
Have you seen anything like this anywhere else?
September 20th, 1899
July 16th, 1921
May 9th, 1943
March 1st, 1965
December 26th, 1986
October 15th, 2008
August 28th, 2030
May 31st, 2052
March 24th, 2074
January 16th, 2096
Eyeballing it, each date looks about 22 year, some days apart. Anyone want to do the math and see if they are all the same gap?
PING
Interesting that these two locations are three or so miles apart. And in Allen it’s in the DFW metroplex whereas in Fairview it’s basically out in the boonies.
It’s a reverse Legandrian cryptogram with a 763 base shift; when you decode it you get:
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine
three or so miles apart
s/b
a couple hundred miles or so apart.
On March 1, 1965, the USDA published that potato stocks (storage of) was down 16%.
Fairview borders Allen on the North. Both are about 20 miles North of Dallas County up Hwy 75.
Sounds like someone needs help with their geocaching clues.
Wasnt that the plot to Trading Places with Eddie Murphy? /h
Okay. I was looking at Fairview which is located out near San Saba, nw of Killeen.
At first I was thinking of Fairfield where the lignite mine is.
Yep, that’s rural also.
Monoliths you say!
Were they black and were monkeys banging bones nearby?
Cue “Also Sprach Zarathustra”...
After looking at the map at the site I think 3 miles apart is the distance. Never heard of this before and I am not quite certain what the mystery is supposed to be.
A mall there?!? Hahahahaha! There's nothing out there but a cedar bush.
Didn’t even know there was a Fairview, San Saba, TX till i googled it. I could see how that would be confusing.

That was my point. It didn’t make sense for one to be at that location. The one in the DFW area I understood. Now I find out there are two Fairviews.
