Baby green limas and ham? I love lima beans, but usually have them in succotash. I’ll have to try your idea!

attached to our furry kids, don’t we?***

Love having them, but I am getting to the point where I can’t take losing them. :( Hubby only got me the chi b/c we lost our Dalmation. Stupid dog died in 95 and she still makes me cry.

Like succotash too but usually just put a couple bags of the dried green baby limas in the crockpot with some ham and a diced onion, a good bit of salt, some pepper, and about a tablespoon of baking soda. Helps with the aftereffects. :) Cover all with water and let it slow cook all day while I’m at work. A big pan of cornbread, and you are good to go!

Works for great northerns too!

I’ve never added baking soda. Does it leave a taste?

When I make cornbread to go with soup, I almost always make it Tex-Mex (with diced cheddar cheese, creamed corn and green chilis.)

I’ve made bean soup with great northerns, but never baby limas. I’m going to try it! Thanks, GG!

No taste, but it will froth up for a moment. :)

I like cornbread just about any way you fix it!

If you really like bean soup, see if you can find a package of 15 bean soup. It’s a dried mix, should be with the other beans. WalMart here carries it. First thing you do is throw away the seasoning packet that comes with it. Fry a pound of hot sausage with a diced up onion. Drain the sausage/onions, add to the beans/b.soda and cover with water. I cook it slow all day as well. :) Enjoy!

MMMMmm, sounds good. Everyone was talking about the 15 bean soup a couple weeks ago. I think Meg made it.

What kind of ‘hot sausage’ do you use?

Usually Jamestown. Jimmy Dean if it’s on sale. Any kind of ground sausage will work, and possibly something like Kielbasa, altho we like it too well the other way to ever change!

Must have missed that conversation. I’ve been awol a lot lately. :)

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I love baby lima’s with ham!! I have never tried the 15 bean soup. I froze some left over ham to cook with lima beans. You’ve made me so hungry! I’ll put on a big pot next week. I like either cornbread or biscuits with mine.

Our local grocery store has spiral cut ends and pieces. They are small pieces, just right for ham and beans, scrambled eggs/ham, ham and eggs, you name it.

The 15 bean soup is awesome!
