I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
Flowers of the Forest
Black Watch Piper
The Soldier
If I should die, think only this of me: That there's some corner of a foreign field That is forever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam; A body of England's, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home. And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given; Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
Rupert Brooke

Well, I had some “first likes”, but my First Love is still my bride of 44+ years.
To: Diver Dave
Well, I had a lot of first loves, which my Mama called puppy loves, which they were, but at the time I thought they were love. When that one loves comes along though, we know!! My real one lasted longer than yours and now he's been gone almost 6 years.
Sometimes it seems he's been gone longer and other times seems like a little while ago. God makes us very strong to try and live and get better after a loss like that! I came to the realization that God wants his children to be happy so after a period of time we do live again and sometimes even love again.
But memories flood back a lot and they are wonderful memories!

Delayed Consequences
Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. Joel 2:13
As a child, I learned to behave properly when adults rewarded my good behavior and punished my bad behavior. This worked pretty well because the reward or punishment generally came quickly after the behavior, making the relationship between the cause and effect unmistakable. When I became an adult, however, life got more complex, and the consequences of my actions were not always immediate. When I behaved badly without getting in trouble for it, I began to think that it didnt matter to God what I did.
Something similar happened to the children of Israel. When they disobeyed God and didnt suffer any bad consequences right away, they said, The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see! (Ezek. 9:9), indicating their belief that God had lost interest in them and didnt care about their bad behavior. But they were wrong. Weary of their waywardness, God finally said, None of My words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled (12:28 niv).
When God delays discipline, its not due to indifference; its due to His very natureHe is gracious and slow to anger. Some see that as permission to sin, but God intends it to be an invitation to repent (Rom. 2:4).
A Prayer: Lord, thank You for being slow to anger and filled with compassion. May I not presume upon Your mercy by assuming that there will be no consequences to my sin. Help me instead to confess it. Amen.
The only way to make things right is to admit youve been wrong.

JC, everything about that graphic is perfect! The colors, the balance, the tenderness - makes me want to be a kid again, and do it all over.
On second thought, nah......I don't THINK so.
