Thats way too many. Imagine that they do not sell, then what?
There is a recession going on and tablets are not proven to be very commercially viable.

so it’s a picture frame with a cpu?
wonder what the keyboard will be? flex? virtual?
Too late. I got a kindle for Christmas. Apple has been scooped by Amazon. Can’t believe they’ve been so slow in the book market.
brown, bad - blue, good.
The quality of products is actually so-so. There is always the promise of more, that is never delivered. Only this week, we are totally ditching our Apple TVs (3 of them) as the bloody things work so unreliably on our network with the advent of Snow Leopard. We are ditching Time Capsule. Bloody thing doesn't work for complicated file structures (terrabytes of data in seriously nested folders).
I look at the new iMacs and i think: "I'd rather an HP". I'm not interested in the new iPhones -- I'd rather an android.
I think I have serious Mac fatique.
Hey, if any company can do it, Apple can.
Whether you like or hate them, you can’t argue that they have influenced the adoption of technology in major ways.
They popularized the graphical interface and mouse.
They took USB into the mainstream.
They abolished the floppy.
They were responsible for making electronic distribution of music and mp3 players accessible to everyone.
They made video editing available to everyday people.
They revolutionized the mobile phone...everyone is copying it.
So, I don’t doubt they will bring a product to market that will bring the concept of the tablet PC into the mainstream.
I believe it will heavily leverage touch screen technology and gestures.
Although I am an apple fan (Since the days of my Apple II+), I am also one of their biggest critics, and I cannot stand the fanbois. That said, if ANYONE can “create” a market for these things where others have failed, it would be Apple. I am eager to see their product.
Lee left Apple early this year? Does he mean early 2010 or 2009?
Maybe Apple will get into the e-reader business.
More likely these are going to be like super huge ipod touches. Bigger and better with some new bells and whistles, at 500 bucks they’ll sell a ton of them, just a guess though. They’ll likely be e-readers as well, but if they are they won’t have the battery life like a reader because they wouldn’t use the “e-ink” technology.
I just started looking at the e-readers, they’re really neat, Kindle, Sony and the new “nook” by Barnes and Noble.
I want one already
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
I bought my kids the iPod Touches for Christmas. After setting them up, sync'ing them, adding my libraries, learning the device with the kids all weekend long; gearing up for work and picking up my Blackberry, that device just seemed old at that point, clunky, hard to use.
The Touches run seamlessly on my network even still jailed. If this tablet/slate, whatever is just a Touch super-sized, I am still in. Amazing devices.
I would buy two today if they were available. My partner and I use tablet PC’s at our medical office and we are on our third model in three years. ACER was POS(2 gone), Toshiba is working but not wonderful, and Fujitsu has been in shop for two weeks. We use PC software so long as it runs parallel we would be in like flint. Can’t wait to get my hands on one or more.
I should read everything before I post, but I have few regrets. ;’)
