WHY DOES GOD APPEAR SO MEAN?
TruthInConviction ^ | Dec 31 | J. Grant Swank, Jr.

“Grant, I wonder if you are a football fan? Just because, if so, I hope you're demanding to the team ownership that the whole team should be put to death immediately. After all, a literal reading of the Bible does tell us that anyone who works on Sunday should be killed, right? And you've apparently linked belief in Christ with blindly following everything in the Bible.”

I’m not saying God didn’t have reasonable cause, but it was still pretty cruel, wasn’t it?

Why, in your view, “not from God”?

Why, in my view, “not from God?”

Because as I explained in my previous post, in Adam’s fall, we sinned all. We are all condemned to death. God makes this clear from the beginning. He never pretends otherwise.

He further explains that He has made a way out for us, in the person and work of Jesus.

So, we die. In the womb; in our hospital beds; in our cars; on the battlefield; behind the cash register; falling down the stairs, wherever, we die. Just like God said we would.

Yet, in Christ, we live. Just like God said we would.

You seem to be more focused on the truly tragic and horrible fact of death, which can indeed be overwhelming, and not on the extraordinary way God dealt with our condition by providing us a Savior, resurrection, reconciliation, eternal life.

Sunday is the Christian holy day, and therefor has no need of claiming to be a sabbath.

The article equated Sunday with the Sabbath. I disputed that. Now you are disputing me, thinking that I equated Sunday with the Sabbath.... weird.

I have seen both sides of God. I have seen both my parents suffer unto death, yet I was saved three decades earlier by his direct intervention.

We went as a family to the midwest to pay respects to a family member, went to her church were they prayed for our safe return home.

Along the way home we encountered high winds in the mountains that blew our pickup and camper off the road where it entered a ditch, came out and rolled over on its top.

I was looking out one side window until a voice that was so beautiful I will never forget it said “go to the other side”. Out of astonishment and curiosity and the sheer compelling voice, I did it and within ten seconds we had that rollover. I barely got my feet out from the cabover where my head was at seconds earlier and left one clog behind. My head would have been crushed, or I would have at least suffocated in the bedding.

As requested by the prayer we all made it safely home.

I pray that you do not need direct intervention, yet I know why God does not bother making his presence obvious. You will never fully appreciate what the words I just typed to you represent, meaning God would be nothing more than a guidance counselor were he to engage us all.

Sunday worship is a Pagan myth promulgated by the Roman church in the fourth century.

Lies about the origin of Christian doctrine are Satanic heresy.

"There IS NO death penalty regarding Sabbath prohibitions."

Numbare 15:

32-Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man (X)gathering wood on the sabbath day.

33-Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation;

34-and they put him in custody (Y)because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

35-Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death; (Z)all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp."

36-So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

All I know is that if there is a god, it could not allow anyone to suffer as much pain as I have seen and the billions of others that have died terrible deaths after having only menial lives.

Perhaps you might look at it this way. Your child needs an immunization. Ultimately, it is for his own good, and the good of others (herd immunity and all that). It hurts, but only briefly, so you agree to give your child the shot.

Our lives, as compared with eternity, are as fleeting as that quick moment of pain while getting a shot. Yeah, seems long to us, but we lack perspective. Those painful deaths and menial lives last a second compared with eternity. Heaven is even more wonderful than this world could possibly hope to be. Suffer for a very short time, but spend eternity in peace and contentment.

So, God allows all of us to act with free will so that we can choose him or not. We hurt each other or the physical world causes us pain, and God can use that hurt/pain to bring good things (increased faith, fellowship with others, acts of love and kindness) to us and others. It's hard to appreciate pain, but if you look, you can often find something valuable in it.

How are such attrocities going to bring me closer to Him if I'm still struggling to find such faith to begin with?

I don't know where faith ultimately comes from. I assume from God, but I cannot say that definitively. I've just always had it. I don't think I could bear life without it. I wish I could GIVE faith to people to get them started...

"Did YHvH or His salvation change the Ten Commandments?"

Yes, as a matter of fact He did.

" Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, - Jeremiah 31:31

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. - Luke 22:20

In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." - 1 Corinthians 11:25

"If you were not so ignorant of G-d's Holy Word you would know that Yah'shua rose from the dead on the day following the Shabbat following Pesach."

In fulfillment of the prophesy He was raised up on the third day. Do you need me to cite the prophesy and the testimony of its occurrence?

"You have been here two weeks and you know everything."

Coming from someone who has been here ten years and merely pretends to know everything.

The Numbers 15 passage clearly states “it had not been declared what should be done unto him.” In other words, there was NO prescriptive command. But, in this case, when Moses consulted GOD, the command was given to execute him by stoning. This is descriptive.

THere is a difference in a perscriptive and general principle vs. a descriptive act based on a particular circumstance. But that was a GOOD try! :-D

"In other words, there was NO prescriptive command."

Wanna bet?

For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. - Exodus 31:15

I affirmed the difference, and underlined it by noting the basis of the difference.

No disputishness in play.

The death of an innocent child does not provide any benefit to anyone, thus it is not equivalent to an immunization per your analogy, but rather is a pointless wrong which should be stopped.

Now you've done it. Expect to be thumped and beaten with The Book about the head and shoulders.

How darest thou ask embarrassing questions?

You are hereby sentenced to have to put up with a month of Sundays of Apologetics explaning and excusing the Subject of your complaint.
