This article is BS. When I took concealed carry classes, we are told to give the officer both our Texas Driver’s License and the Concealed Carry permit. My renewal class earlier this month was taught by a retired cop.

That is the case in Texas, if you have a CHL. If you do not, my understanding is that you are not required to inform the officer that you have a firearm in the vehicle.
Yep, that’s what I was taught too. I have my two carry permits SC and FL and keep them right behind my drivers license, so when asked for the license, I hand them all three (three because I live right on the SC/GA border where the FL permit kicks in for GA. It has happened 3 times ... 2 state cops and 1 local. All were “set up” barricades ... probably looking for illegals or something. Anyway, all three times, they looked at all three, handed them back and said “take care” and off I went. No problems ... just as I was taught in SC “permit school.”
It depends on the state. In some states, you are required to state whether you are armed when stopped by an officer, other states you are not.
There are also good and bad ways of disclosing your status. Quietly handing your CCW license is a good way. Screaming out "I've got a gun!" is a bad way.
