ATHENS, Ga. -- Police in Athens say a man preparing to rob a convenience store accidentally shot himself.
Athens-Clarke police Capt. Clarence Holeman says 19-year-old Michael Anthony Randall Jr. of Athens shot himself above the ankle with a sawed-off shotgun when he tried to pull it out from his coveralls as he approached the store Sunday night.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports Holeman says the blast caused extensive damage, and doctors do not think they will be able to save Randall's foot.
Holeman says investigators plan to take out a warrant charging Randall with attempt to commit armed robbery.
Randall was being treated for his injuries at Athens-Regional Medical Center.
hohohoho hahahaha hehehehe
That’s what I’m a talkin’ about!
All potential robbers should be required to take a weapons safety class and receive a certification prior to being allowed to commit robberies. Of course, taxpayers should pay all costs associated with these classes.
Accidentally shot himself? Sounds like he “accidentally” blew his leg off....
And a last minute contender for the Darwin Award of 2009 has emerged...
Tell us son, what’s your name?
Folks call me Stumpy.
“If you blow your foot off because your sawed-off shotgun got stuck in your coveralls...you might be a redneck.”
“...And your sign might read ‘You’re not smarter than a fifth-grader.’”
Couldn’t carry the nine that day. Had to be the shotgun. lolol
The guy was just trying to get a leg up!!!
That’s not Jeff Foxworthy.
At best he would of only gotten a hundred dollars, or so.
Now, with a missing foot, he can apply for disability, section 8, food stamps...
He’s hit the low rent Jackpot!
Not funny- this will be a guaranteed uninsured guy that will require expensive and ongoing rehab as well as a prosthesis, along with a wheel chair for the duration—Okay- so it mostly is not funny.
On the bright side, it is harder to say victim when someone literally shoots himself in the foot.
It could have been worse,
he could have been wearing jeans and tried to pull it out of his pants....
So to speak....
No, that’s Bill Engvall whose set bit is “Here’s your sign”, in reference to his assertion that stupid people should have to wear a sign around your neck.
Yes, I know - but the reference to “Are you smarter than a 5th grader” needs a Foxworthy pic.
They call my foot 'Mashed Tater'....
bet that made a mess...take two hole rolls of paper towels to clean that up.
Yea, you're right, You can't fix stupid!
