This was a hard piece to write, because guns by definition are manly, except for Berettas, gold-plated TEC9s, .25 caliber pistols or anything made by the French. To simplify things, I have limited it to modern cartridge firearms a man might, can, and should collect and shoot. There are certainly other manly weapons, and you may have a different list. As long as the list contains nothing French, gold-plated, .25 or with pearl grips (which Patton correctly observed are the mark of a New Orleans pimp), it is a good list.

I love my M1A Springfield and have it down it down to 3” at 100 yrds, Iron sights. I could do better but am shooting surplus Russian and South African to contain costs.

Shot WinXX and it looked like some improvement.

It’s the same M2 since it’s inception a century ago. If I’m not mistaken, it’s the longest running, continuous weapon in the military arsenal. If you have head-space and timing correct, it’s reliable and oh so powerful. Nothing compares in small arms.

(Is that a US Army 16” 50? That would be my #1 as well - but it used bagged propellant, not cartridges... ;>)

Having thought about the question a bit more, I will nominate for the absolute, most 'Manliest Firearm' - any .22 Hornet rifle, in good shooting condition. I've read the Inuit use them to take polar bear (stop & think about that). The Hornet doesn't cost much to reload, which is apparently a concern to many Inuit hunters, and if a smaller cartridge will get the job done, they use it.

(Of course, maybe it's just the man behind the rifle - and my hat's off to those Inuit, and many other riflemen, whom I've never met... ;>)
