THE TEN MANLIEST FIREARMS

This was a hard piece to write, because guns by definition are manly, except for Berettas, gold-plated TEC9s, .25 caliber pistols or anything made by the French. To simplify things, I have limited it to modern cartridge firearms a man might, can, and should collect and shoot. There are certainly other manly weapons, and you may have a different list. As long as the list contains nothing French, gold-plated, .25 or with pearl grips (which Patton correctly observed are the mark of a New Orleans pimp), it is a good list.

While researching one of my weapons, I found this. I thought it was interesting. FWIW, I have 2 of the 10. Dan Wesson 357 oughta be on the list.

I have one with a muzzle brake and sorbothane recoil pad, you need them!
My favorite “manliest’ gun otherwise is the M1A with a GI fiberglass stock and a National Match grade Leupold scope.

If I can substitute a Benelli M1 Super 90 for the Remington 870 then I’ve got 4 out of 10.
The author left out the free world’s right arm: the FN FAL. That’s number 5.

I had a Dan Wesson with 2” and 8” barrels. In a target match with the 8” barrel mounted, I outshot a Colt Pyton 357 with ease.
Agree that the Dan could have been on the list. Many of the ones ON the list are slightly too exotic for most shooters; me included. Was VERY happy to see the 1911 45 Cal. ACP near the top of the list.

Nice sawed off but very illegal Is that a problem?
Must from some private collection...

There wasn’t alot wrong with the Lebel Model 1886 rifle — a perfectly good firearm for its time, and was still deployed long after its use-by date.
Just because it’s French doesn’t mean it’s bad.
