> Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail, including 60 days of work release that will let him pursue his job as a construction contractor while serving his time. His wife, Mayumi, was sentenced to 20 days in jail.....

Way, way over the top. This in addition to a $42,000 fine. Huge over-reaction to a dumb@ss stunt.

Gaol time + fine + probation. I wonder how much AlGore will get when they finally figure out GLOBAL WARMING IS A SCAM?

AND.....”The Heenes’ probation will be revoked if they are found to be profiting from any book, TV, movie or other deals related to the stunt.”

The fine may cover the expenses for the stunt.

Well, you do have the whole waste the emergency resources for a hoax deal. I hope anyone who suffered as a result of this stunt (someone who had a real emergency that couldn’t be tended to because resources were allotted to the hoax) also sues the crap out of these folks.

I bet 42k about covers the emergency resources’ costs (never mind the cost to others who may have truly needed them). I wouldn’t worry about it. No over-reaction IMO.
