Possibly — but I doubt that the EMTs concerned could stage a realistic training exercise of a similar scope for as little as $42,000. Add a zero, perhaps.
As training goes, this was a bargain.
I dunno, maybe it’s a cultural thing. I prefer our emergency services in NZ to be well-practised and ready for anything, even for idiots doing stupid stunts at inconvenient times and places. If they can handle that, then they can handle anything. Happy to pay tax dollars for that.
