Fifty Ugliest Cars of the Past 50 Years
A Half-Century of Automotive Eyesores By Damian Joseph
Considering how many new cars are rolled out every year, it's no surprise that a few might be just plain homely. There's a chance that certain styles might become fashionable with a dash of retro hip. (Well, maybe not from the 1970s.) But for the most part, the following 50 cars will never be anything but design duds.

74 Vega is missing (I had an orange one...with racing stripes!)

I had one of these beauties, same color and year but with a black vinyl top. Ugliest car I ever owned, but I bought it with 100K miles on it, and drove it another 100k before the wheels fell off. Averaged about 32 mpg to boot and never ever got stuck in the snow... Funny thing is I kind off miss it.

I call bullsh!t on their opinions. My El Camino was the most enjoyable vehicle I ever owned in my lifetime so far. Wish they still made them.
I agree 100%. The El Camino is not agly car. I loved my ‘65. It was was metallic maroon and beautiful. When I finally put it up for sale I had buyers fighting over it.

Geron,
The 63 is pretty. Dad had a 69 growing up. Had the 350/350 in an olive green color. Those old vettes would cost a fortune today. What a shame.
Any GTO fans out there? 67-69?

Errr. Should read. “The El Camino is not an ugly car.”

Nope. Mine was the crappy Datsun orange ... just like the one pictured. It would fade to a dull, chalky mess then shine like the sun after a wax job. Then it would fade again. Ugliest dang car I ever drove.

Okay, before continuing past post #1 I am going to guess that the Edsel and the Aztec are #1 and #2 ugliest of all time.
Let’s see how i did!

74 Vega is missing (I had an orange one...with racing stripes!)My brother had a 73. It used more oil than gas.

The Delorean
No wonder the song with the lyrics “And the Devil sat in the passenger seat of Delorean’s automobile”.
The Chevy 400(?) I half expect to see Roger Rabbit climb out.

To be honest with the freeper world, I owned.a 99 Lexus ES300. Best car I ever owned.
I came upon hard times and a divorce the last two years and lost it.
I now drive a 92 Buick LeSabre with 262,000 miles on it. Looks like shit, radio is shit, smells like shit, and makes shit noises.
However, I am happier more now in my life and I don’t mind sharing the soft cloth interior with my new sweetie.
Moral of the story: our cars aren’t everything.

Agreed. Any list longer than “the one ugliest car” that omits the Aztec isn’t convincing.

I like the Bricklin, the Aston Martin, and the DeLorean. The 2002 BMW 7-Series, ugly? it’s a big sleek, car. Most of the rest were hideous.

I'm with you. The El Camino is cool, as is the SSR. The Avalanche is not bad, and the DeLorean was a beautiful car. Some of the Euro cars were ugly, but stuff like the new Beetle and the Volkswagen Thing were both popular and pretty reliable.
