Fifty Ugliest Cars of the Past 50 Years
A Half-Century of Automotive Eyesores By Damian Joseph
Considering how many new cars are rolled out every year, it's no surprise that a few might be just plain homely. There's a chance that certain styles might become fashionable with a dash of retro hip. (Well, maybe not from the 1970s.) But for the most part, the following 50 cars will never be anything but design duds.

I had a 69 El Camino. Best looking one ever built IMHO.
It was a Chevelle that could haul my Yamaha dirt bike out to the desert.
Best of both worlds...

The PT Cruiser is on the list???
I fell in love with it the first time I saw one! I love my purple PT!
Judging by how many PTs are on the road, I’m not alone in liking them.

...Bought a 70’s Dodge Dart 4 door in the early 90’s, ugly, but the slant six 225 was the best motor I ever neglected. Ahhh, I changed the oil and radiator every year, I couldn't kill it, 5 years I owned it. I gave it to my stepson, he ran it to doom in DC in 2 weeks. Name was Rita, she got me around, a great ugly car...

So wheres the Scion XB?
Is the Scion XB the stupid box Toyota built? I was sure looking for it, figuring it had to have made the list.

and those godawful late 70s mustangs?
To: DogByte6RER
It drove really well, but I always thought the Alfa Romeo Milano was a bit homely...

Businessweek doesn’t seem to much about cars but you would think they would recognize the sales record some of these cars have.

Some of these ARE pretty ugly (the Fiat Multipla makes the Powell Homer look like a Raymond Loewy effort), while others don't strike me as worse than just dull (Taurus... Sable.. my eyes are getting heavy... z-z-z-z-z...), in need of a slight makeover (the Plymouth Prowler needed a tolerable front bumper and more horsepower), or too arcane to be included (the VW Thing was a
kubelwagen, for crying out loud).
A few of them (like the Lightburn Zeta or Tata Nano) are so utili-homely that they'd be sort of cool if someone with time and money to burn was willing to do pro street versions.

Any list like this has to be a bit difficult and there are some really ugly ones in here but also a few which I think are quite attractive.
The Delorean, Ferrari, Mercury Sable, and several others are not even slightly ugly.
The forgot the wagon queen family truckster.

yeah, they seem to have criticized every unusual design whatsoever as ugly. I’m sure they think the Toyota Corolla parked in their driveway is some masterpiece of design. A very weak article.
