You have to specifically hit a key on YOUR screen to get cash back. If you are stupid and hit it by mistake, you are likely to be handed $40.00 and be puzzled why they are handing you cash.
It shows up on the register that cash is due back.
If you are handed cash, count it. Don’t don’t assume that it will be right.
I have more problems not getting all of my bags of bought stuff home. At least once a year, I forget a bag and make it out of the store without stuff I have paid for.
Ha ha, well spotted paulycy!
This is bunk. The cashier has no way to hit cash back on the register keyboard. It is on the customer’s keypad on the debit reader. Alot of confused customers hit the wrong button and then want to blame the cashier. He or she has no control over that. My guess is that the e-mail is from a dissatisfied person who hit cash back instead of no cash back.
Snopes is a husband and wife team, Barbara and David Mikkelson, they are not experts on anything. They are urban legend chasers. That’s all. These are the same people that claimed to have documented the forged Hawaiian COLB as authentic! They have been proven wrong time and time again. They have a political agenda!
The issue with snopes is that they are Urban Legend hunters. When it came to the Obama birth certificate, they presented facts that were NOT true.
By them stating that Obama was born in Hawaii, they had no access to the “Vault” copy nor additional information. They lied, and they lied to the public big time.
When Congressmen and Senators tell their constituiants they verified Obama eligibility by checking snopes, we have a MAJOR problem.
Like I have stated before.
Imagine John Kerry, standing in the Senate and stating “We know Saddam had WMD’s, cause we checked with Snopes” or Hillary verifying the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, because she checked with Snopes.
My family *loves* that movie. We are giving copies of it to some people this year for Christmas.
I’m still waiting for the AKC papers proving that the pit bull was born in the US.
It’s possible that the quick thinking cashier noticed that the shopper hit the cash back button in error and decided to keep the cash.
“Thats why I use the self checkout lane.”
That’s why I open-carry.
;-)
As a former Wal-mart cashier, I am calling you a liar. Cashiers are not able to do what you describe, in the manner you are describing it.
There are also giant albino alligators living under every Walmart. And all the cactuses in the garden department are filled with baby tarantulas.
Nope, I don’t have a problem with WalMart. I still shop there all the time. I was just making the point that things happen, sometimes on purpose and sometimes not on purpose. I believe this incident was intentional. I got my $40.00 bucks back so everything was okay. I did not hit the cash back button, snopes or no snopes. Check your receipts for little surprises.
If the “girls of walmart” had checked me out, I would have happily donated the $40.00.

Hey shadow ace.
It doesn’t bother me for an idiot to call me a liar. I didn’t say the cashier did anything. I only said my receipt showed a $40.00 charge that I didn’t receive property or cash for. If you think the cashier did it, that is your problem.
Ted
It didn't happen.
I think it’s good advice to be aware of what’s on your receipt.
I have no doubt that unscrupulous cashiers try this from time to time.
