“Sarah Palin shamelessly using her children as political props...again.”

How come when the dims use “the children” as political tools it’s an outrage but when Sarah trots them out at every photo op (especially Trig) it’s “brilliant”?

[Piper] This is my mommy and she is going to be president.
* *

LOL, good work.

(I think what she’s really thinking is how much she loves to be on stage).

2040-2048 President of the United States of America.

Idol worship is not healthy.

Well, neither is good. But at least blind pessimism tells you there are potholes in the road. Blind optimism has you hitting one a full speed and losing a wheel. Blind optimism tells you that you live in a marshmallow castle with a strawberry moat when pessimism has you checking the structural integrity of castle walls and the moat for sharks.

Yes, if given the option between ONLY blind optimism or pessimism, I’ll take the P because at least I’ll be ready when the barbarians storm the gates.

HG, do you think it might be more of a yearning for a return to tradition values than idol worship?
Yes, parents are responsible for raising their children properly and a kid's role model should be the parent(s). Yet with all the world's diversions isn't it better that we have people like Sarah Palin to counter the Tiger Woods, Madonnas and Clintons?

Sarah knows where a belt belongs

And what an appropriate size/width of said belt should be.

I can understand some folks going overboard in their support of Palin.
That's one of her strong points, she fires folks up and many are enthused by that.

But to start slobbering over her daughter as some future "great leader"
when we don't even know if the kid can count to ten is just plain STUPID.

Blind optimism has you hitting one a full speed and losing a wheel...

Funny that you would use an AUTOMOTIVE metaphor.
Although not TOO unexpected, I guess -- since you live in southern California. ;)
I was planning to reply to you with that classic quote from Henry Ford:
"If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right." – Henry Ford
Bottom line: I'm O.K. with being "realistic" -- and I understand the dangers of "blind" ANYTHING -- but the down side to pessimism is that our expectations often determine our reality.
Are you O.K. if we are "CAUTIOUSLY optimistic" about Governor Palin being able to lead our great country back from the Obama-nation train wreck?

'HBO Christmas Carol'

An Alaskan family has their SUV break down on a cold, wintry night. Thru the blizzard they espy a light and brave the sub-zero temperature as they walk towards it. A house! Sitting alone out in the middle of nowhere. Looking at the post box, little Piper quips, "Eb-en-eezer-J. He must be the one who lives here!"
Be sure to see this very special Christmas story of how a cantankerous ol' man learned to open up his heart, and mind, as he is given the lesson of the true meaning of conservatism.

Starring

Bob J as Ebeneezer
Chuck Heath as The Ghost of America's Past
Todd Palin as The Ghost of America's Present
Sarah Palin as The Ghost of America's Future
and an endearing performance from Tiny Trig

"...and God bless us, everyone!"

C'mon, I don't think they're serious about the Palin daughter being a future President.
I understand your concern that we need to avoid becoming an 'American Bandstand political bloc'. Yet there indeed are children out there who don't have proper role models, even their parents. If Palin can fill this void for even a small percentage of them then it is worth it, in spades.
