My 12 year old loves that movie. It was pretty good.

As much as I love the LOTR movies, I would say I appreciate Master and Commander much more. In fact, not only do I have the 2-disc DVD set, I have the entire movie on my iPod Touch.

Some great ones I’ve seen and re-seen:

LOTR trilogy
The Incredibles
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others), all the better as it is true

Personal choices that are less “fine films” than great fun:
300
Iron Man

yup...District-B13 was also very good.

If you liked Ong Bak...check out "Chocolate". Awesome fight scenes.

It’s also nice to occasionally see movies that are not set in either NYC or LA.

Over 80 posts, and I'm the first to vote Star Trek? I think Zach Quinto was better as Spock than he was as Sylar.

I'm amazed at how many of us love that movie. It's one of my top ten of all time.

Transformers (the first one).
Cars.
Star Trek reboot.

Am I the only one that liked these three?

I would add the “Dawn of the Dead” remake. Master and Commander is terribly underrated and Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorites. I would also add “Waitress” and “Little Miss Sunshine”

It’s also nice to occasionally see movies that are not set in either NYC or LA.

Good examples of great movies set outside of NYC/LA are The Departed, Mystic River, and Gone, Baby, Gone (all Boston); Van Helsing (Paris, Romania, Italy); and Gran Torino (Detroit.)
