Other Russel Crowe movies that belong on the list are:

A Beautiful Mind (deserved the Oscar for this)
Proof of Life
Cinderella Man
A Good Year
3:10 to Yuma

Not in the 2000s, but another great underrated Crowe movie is “Mystery, Alaska.”

Who’s up for filming “the Thirty-three-year Old Virgin?” Nah, I can’t do it. Something in my Catholic makeup just screams out, “Thou Shalt Not Satirize Scripture.”

Bingo, we have a winner!

Yes to Narnia and to Secondhand Lions. Our DVD of Secondhand Lions has been loaned out so much we’ve lost track of who has it.

As a father of four, three of them girls, “Taken” was a harsh but satisfying movie.

As a USMC Vietnam vet, “We Were Soldiers” was also satisfying and very true from my perspective.

Lastly, Mrs BwanaNdege & I really enjoyed “UP”, especially the first part giving the historical context for the story. Great for old geezers like us! Kinda reminded me of Kathy Matea’s song. “Where’ve You Been?” or Jud Struck’s “Daisy A Day”.

1. The Passion of the Christ
2. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
3. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
4. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
5. Lord of the Rings: Bonus DVD material HHOK, Real answer: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Hey, it’s been a crappy decade for movies. I’m a little surprised how few votes there were for the Passion, Pixar, and CS Lewis. King Kong anyone? A little over the top in places, but I’m surprised less squeamish people haven’t voted for it.

STAR WARS I II & III!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally. It took a lot of comments for this trilogy to make the thread I liked III, II, I in that order.

I can't argue against LOTRs either. Or all the Harry Potter movies.

I really liked Iron Man, the first Transformer movie, The Incredibles (why no sequels?), We Were Soldiers, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I was dragged to that movie, expecting to hate it. I had seen just way, way, way too many sitcoms take on Dickens with no taste for the actual story. And those unending, boring TV movies where every character wants to be Sir Laurence Olivier... even Tiny Tim. To my amazement, I loved it.

“Back off, Big guy; that might work with the ladies...”

You’re a brave person. A lousy taste in movies, but admirably brave.

Napoleon Dynamite - still cracks me up

Me too!! I LOVED that movie! No major special effects, computer-designed graphics, gratutitous sex, language, or violence.

What a concept, huh?

I have a feeling we may be adding “Sherlock Holmes” to the list in two weeks. I’m really looking forward to it.
