The halfback “Jack Robinson” mention of UCLA is the Jackie Robinson of baseball fame. Very cool.

Whew! That was a close shave. That Cal extension campus out in Westwood has yet to defeat the Trojans, whose record against the Bruins since 1929 is now 5-0-2.
It is also noteworthy that the crowd of 103,300 was the largest ever to watch a football game west of the Mississippi—amazing, since we drew only 44,000 for our homecoming game against Washington last week.
Now it’s on to Pasadena. Go, Trojans! Beat the Vols!

I looked up the 1939 NFL Team Records. Man how some things have changed.
Teams
- Chicago Cardinals
- Chicago Bears
- Detroit Lions
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- Brooklyn Dodgers
- Cleveland Rams
- Green Bay Packers
- Washington Redskins
- Philadelphia Eagles
- New York Giants
And the Giants lost the NFL Championship to the Packers 27-0, played in Green Bay on Sunday Dec. 10, 1939
Now there's so many teams they all basically suck
(1). Pete Rozelle sure got his 'parity'.
the NE Pats won all those games by cheating, so they suck too.
