Perhaps Microsoft hires the same “scientists” as East Anglia University does.
Same results, anyway.

I have Win7, VISTA and XP systems. They all updated fine. No hiccups or issues.

I got the XP updates, but I use Mozilla Thunderbird instead of the brain-dead Outlook. No problems so far.

They wouldn’t let you pick and choose the night before and folks in my office had problems with other programs caused by IE8. This am, IE8 was uninstalled via the network!

We have over 400 XP machines, and we haven’t had any out of the ordinary issues that I’ve heard about.
Had a web server go crazy this morning, but that was another issue.

Fedora 12 which is what I run, is apparently immune to this bug.

>MS forced an update patch on all Windows users At least one person (me) running XP had nothing forced on him. You need to double-check that statement.

Do a direct Windows update and it will download and install the updates rather quickly. Windows automatic update system tends to drag performance as it downloads in the background. Remember that MS does their Windows on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, so expect this every month. If you override the auto update yourself, it will inconvenience you less.
The issue with e-mail, might just be all of the servers getting bogged down auto updating at the same time. If MS staged the updates by random IP address, it might limit the overload effect.

That’s why I won’t let MS automatically download and install updates on any of my computers.

"Just in from our computer tech.
MS forced an update patch on all Windows users."
Sounds like you need a new computer tech.

We abandoned Microsoft Office Outlook long ago in favor of Mozilla Thunderbird.
I can say we have no email troubles this morning for our business.

When I started Firefox this morning, I got the BSD and a restart, and I don’t use Outlook.

MY OE was messed up this AM. Couldn’t send anything. Said that my email address didn’t exist. Suddenlink helped me clear the problem.

My oldest laptop wasn’t able to shut down on its own this morning after loading the patch, and now the FR posting pane doesn’t work right; (IE 8) the cursor keeps jumping around so that you end up typing gibberish if you’re not looking.
