“Citizens” was a word widely employed in the Soviet Union. It at times took on threatening overtones that “comrade” didn’t have. A “comrade” was ok with the system, a “citizen” might need to be reminded of his responsibilities.

The day was a secular celebration before the birth of The Nazarene ( who was NOT born on the 25th of December). It will have secular meaning whether we like it or not in the future.

It is fine with me if you misrepresent it to your children, do as you will. I tend to think that those who would put “Christ” back into Christmas have lost the sense of what a MASS is all about. I do not celebrate His Death. Instead I celebrate His resurrection. That is the grace and redemotion in my life

Please do some historical research. The 25th of December was NOT the day The Nazarene was born. The information in the Gospels lead to a far different conclusion (think feast of tabernacles or there abouts)

a day that got the people of the old religion to stop worshiping the “sun god” and worship the “Sun of God”. Clever trick, I think.

Unfortunately that pun only works in English. With that said, it doesn't really matter what the real day is, if it is some other day.

I called this months ago. Anyone who knows Obama could have predicted this.

"OBAMA WANTED 'NON-RELIGIOUS' CHRISTMAS"

Er, Christmas is a religious holiday (holy day).

He had to figure something out because his two little angels and his shrew of a concubine wanted presents like all the other kids, but Islam does not allow the celebration of Christmas.

And in other news, the vast majority of Americans wanted a “non-communist” White House.

sigh.

Please do some topic research. You'll see that I didn't say Christ was born on Dec. 25, 0000. I think we all realize that date is not accurate. But that's not what's important, is it? The fact that we are celebrating the birth of Christ is the important part. Doesn't matter if it's the correct calendar day at all, IMO.

Actually WE didn’t chose this date at all. While you may call it a clever trick, all it did was lead people to incorrect conclusions about The Nazarene.

I do not care one way or the other what ‘holidays’ you manage to celbrate or why. I do care very much if you want to slit my throat in order to celebrate a so called prophet ( for those of the muslim persuasion).

I will honor God in an approriate manner without need for approval of those who would teach inaccuracies.

Well explicated. That is precisely the sentence and interpretation I derived from the quote.

If there is no religion in Christmas, then there is no celebration. The point of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. If the day becomes secular, then it is just business as usual. Therefore, Sasha and Maleah’s gifts must be returned. Or better yet, they can be redistributed to my son. Yes, I know I probably misspelled their names and I don’t care.

Those are your words NOT mine. The point of Christmas was to satiate the need of non-believers to have a party. To lure them in a later church decided to use this date. My point was simply that this celebration is nonreligious. Just because you chose to celebrate it as religious does not make it so.

Without religion, there is no Christmas.

This “secular” PC bull**** is driving me crazy.
