Windows 7 Family Pack Dissapears For the Holidays

If you were hoping to upgrade all the computers in your house to Windows 7 as a present to your loved ones, and let’s be honest an upgrade from Vista really will show you care, you’re going to have to pay extra. In a move that makes about as much sense for pleasing your customers as handing out coal filled stockings, Microsoft has discontinued the 3 license Windows 7 Family Pack.

WindowsITPro reports that stock of the discounted Windows 7 upgrade is already drying up at online retailers like Newegg; and though you can get it in some local stores, you’ll pay a premium for it.

This move really baffles me, especially when it seemed that Microsoft was on to something with their “Windows 7 was my idea” marketing campaign; they go and make a Balmer-headed decision like this. Seriously Redmond, If you want to keep your camp of Microsoft loyalists happy, make it easy and affordable for your heavy users and families to stay on Windows.

I’m Josh Smith and Windows 7 was my idea; Microsoft just wasn’t listening.

Linux guys are under the hood guys. Used to work with an under the hood guy. Every time we were working on a deadline, I’d come in and the computer was in fifteen parts on his desk.
I think it’s like a guy that enjoys working on cars. He may know everything, but the down time is pretty high. When the wife wants to go to the store, the car’s disassembled in the driveway.

Sure didn’t take long for the Mac weenies to start throwing insults. So much for that “its always the windows guys who start it”.

Check post #2. Yeah WTF. Don’t dig too deep ace. Your OS realley sucks... It wasn't the Mac guys who started it on this thread.

I used to get stuff on buy.com. One time, when I made a purchase, they asked me to fill out a survey for a 10% discount on the purchase. Apparently, when I filled out the survey, it signed me up for something called "Tiger Direct," one of those stupid purchasing clubs. They started billing me $10 a month on my credit card. I had to make phone calls and everything to get them to stop.

FWIW, over the last couple of months, I've had to get $30 per month in monthly charges taken off my phone bill. Heads up to any Freepers. AT&T put a block for purchases on our cell phones, as no one in the family knew how we ended up getting charged.

This monthly billing to your phone number is turning into a big problem, and even supposedly reputable web sites are partnering with companies that pull the "bill a CC or phone number monthly" garbage for stuff like sending you a daily horoscope or claiming to give a 5¢ discount if you buy a car through some club. Check ALL your bills every month. Also, I haven't used buy.com since they pulled that on me.

Looks like that was a dig at a Mac owner... Not a dig at a Windows owner.

One of the reasons the netbook I just bought for my son will come with Ubuntu.
