The guy who played Stottlemeyer also played a cartoonish bad guy on “Crime Story”. He was very funny.

You have to see “The Big Night” starring Tony Shaloub. The man is a paisan.

Yes, I remember Crime Story. The guy who platyed Stottlemyer was very good. The whole cast was good.
The late Joseph Wiseman, who was one of my favorite actors
had a recurring role on the show.

Was he also on one of the later Sellers Pink Panther movies? I saw someone recently in an old film that looked like him. Not only that, he had that same sort of upward looking to the side sigh.

Captain !!!!!

Ted Levine's more enigmatic wannabe transsexual, longing for a transgressive suit of female flesh. Similarly transgressive is director Jonathan Demme's complicated gaze, asking us - particularly in an incredible sequence scored to Q Lazzarus' "Goodbye Horses" - to see the beauty of this particular beast.

Ted Levine is that great actor’s name. I remember the character well (though can’t recall his name at the moment) - He was HILARIOUS - so stupid as a criminal!! I loved that show for its humor (dark as it could be sometimes). Loved the character “Paulie” also and I still think of that great episode where Paulie takes his boss (”Ray Luca”) to a fall-out practice field (can’t think what they call them) to recoup, they get bombed and he springs him from the hospital in an ambulance and Ray, who’s wrapped up from head to toe because of burns, slides out of the back as Paulie’s driving down the road. HILARIOUS!!

I think it was the guy who played Stottelmeyer who played Alan Shepard in a segment of "From the Earth to the Moon." Shepard went through years of being grounded for an ear condition after spending *15 minutes* in space. The story told of his getting experimental surgery done to get his wings back. It ended with him playing golf on the moon.
