Tarboro, N.C. A Tarboro woman was recovering on Thursday after being run over by a herd of deer over the weekend.
Michelle Brewer said she was opening Brewers Fine Jewelry, 228 N. Main St., the store she co-owns with her husband, on Saturday morning when the incident occurred.

It's one of the few films that I regret ever watching. But, in a twisted irony, I still find the phrase "Paddle faster, I hear banjos" to be amusing.
Cute, but no video of the "attack". When they're moving in one direction, it's not a good idea to get in the way.
i shot bambi once.. caused a huge arguement with wife #1.. then she made me go buy a new tv.
i’d hate to see that in front of me. i’d be torn between taking one of those two-fer shots, or wondering if i could hold out for a three-fer. then i’d have to consider if there’d be enough penetration to go that far...
MitchellC has it. I will ping him.
I don’t live too far from Tarboro, so as you can imagine, this has been talked about a lot around here!
We’re hoping the town will allow a limited bow season in the town limits. ;)
NC ping please?
Is she a grandma? /Dr. Demento
I hope she recovers fully.
I can tell just by her eyes that she has thyroid issues.
You don't know how lucky you are.
That must’ve been one amazing sale she was having at her jewelry store that morning, LOL!
Seriously, prayers up for her recovery.
I was knocked down by a doe when I was in the field one day. It was dusk, she had already settled down, I STEPPED on her, and she sent me flying...in full field gear! I weighed a TON, plus I had the radio pack on me too, so I was like a turtle on my back.
A fellow soldier pulled me back up, LOL! Man, we couldn’t stop laughing!
A funny song....always makes me laugh.....
Santa must be taking lessons from Tiger Woods this year....
Good advice, but may be difficult to do. The deer themselves don't know where they are going next so how are you supposed to? I've seen the stupid things change direction three times in the time it takes a rapidly decelerating car to hit them.
Also, make sure that you do not have a ground level window with a straight access. If a buck sees his reflection he won't know that it is him. All he will see is another buck. LOOKING AT HIM! That is a challenge. He will charge.
It happens around here to storefronts and walk in basements a lot.
Here are the lyrics for a start
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
She’d been drinkin’ too much egg nog
And we’d begged her not to go
But she’d left her medication
So she stumbled out the door into the snow
When they found her Christmas mornin’
At the scene of the attack
There were hoof prints on her forehead
And incriminatin’ Claus marks on her back
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
Now were all so proud of Grandpa
He’s been takin’ this so well
See him in there watchin’ football
Drinkin’ beer and playin’ cards with cousin Belle
It’s not Christmas without Grandma
All the family’s dressed in black
And we just can’t help but wonder
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of pig
And a blue and silver candle
That would just have matched the hair in Grandma’s wig
I’ve warned all my friends and neighbors
Better watch out for yourselves
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house, Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe!
So you had your own “deer” encounter!
Can you imagine being run over by a herd of 7 or 9 of these animals???
She is very fortunate not to have any broken bones...or worse..,,,and seems like a very nice person - small business owner and all.
I wish her the best, too. She has a story that will be one for her family and the people of Tarboro to tell about for generations to come..
Thanks for the lyrics.....I really have lived in a cave - several more people thought of this song when I told them about this story!!!!
LOL - looks like it!
Small business owner? Obama will do anything to get rid of us.
